State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on Tuesday announced that it has 44 million Wi-Fi hotspots available in over 100 countries. The hotspots can be accessed with the My BSNL App for Android and iOS. The tariff for the operator's new International WiFi service, called WiFi+, has been fixed at Rs. 501 per month (inclusive of GST), and it offers unlimited Internet access with a 30-day validity over partner Wi-Fi hotspots.

BSNL says its WiFi+ service doesn't require users to remember multiple passwords. Instead, users just need to register once, which lets them automatically connect to the closest participating Wi-Fi hotspot. The new WiFi+ International WiFi service works with both Android and iOS smartphones via the My BSNL App, and replaces the formerly offered International WiFi service that started at Rs. 999, and went up to Rs. 1,999. The BSNL WiFi+ service cannot be accessed within India.

To buy the new BSNL WiFi+ International WiFi service, users will need to fill up this form and then activate the plan within 30 days of the date of purchase via the My BSNL App on the mobile device they intend to use before departing the country. The BSNL WiFi+ service can also be purchased through the My BSNL App for Android and iOS. The validity of the plan begins from date of activation.

The state-owned telecom operator asks users to refer to visit the Hotspot Finder website to find out the availability of Wi-Fi services in any particular country. No guarantee of speed has been provided, with BSNL saying speeds will vary from hotspot to hotspot.
