"We have recorded 42,000 new land line connections (this financial year). This is a net growth of 1600," BSNL Chennai Telecom Circle Chief General Manager A Balasubramaniam told reporters here.
This is a "remarkable number" as many other circles were losing landline connections, he said.
Further, introduction of Mobile Number Portability (MNP) has also significantly boosted the operator's subscriber base in Chennai, he added.
The state-run telecom service provider has come up with new schemes and offers on the occasion of the 13th Foundation Day and the details are available on its website, he added.
