Airtel Launches 4G Trials in 4 New Cities

Bharti Airtel rolled out fourth generation (4G) trials in four cities on Friday, a company statement said.

The cities are Rourkela in Odisha and Manipal, Udupi and Tumkur in Karnataka. With these launches, the company now offers 4G in 44 cities in India. The company first launched its 4G services in Kolkata in April 2012.

The statement said Bharti Airtel customers in these cities can now avail a complimentary upgrade to Airtel 4G at 3G prices.

Airtel has also announced a go-to-market partnerships with Samsung and Flipkart for 4G devices. Select retail stores of Samsung India will shortly facilitate easy Airtel 4G SIM swap for customers buying 4G smartphones. Airtel 4G double data offers are now available for customers of Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy A7, Galaxy A5, J5 and J7 mobile devices. In the weeks to come, Samsung will also offer bundled Airtel 4G SIMs along with select Samsung 4G handsets in the Indian market.

Commenting on the launch of Airtel 4G trials in Karnataka, C. Surendran, CEO - Karnataka, Bharti Airtel Limited, said, "As customers in India show an increasing propensity for consuming data services, we at Airtel are excited to take the lead in introducing the market to the power of blazing 4G speeds. For us, customers are at the very core of everything we do and delivering a compelling service experience for them is our foremost priority. We want our existing customers to be the first ones to enjoy the Airtel 4G experience and are offering them a free upgrade to Airtel 4G at the same price as 3G. We are committed to build a truly world-class 4G network and thus look forward to our customers' valuable feedback".

Further, 4G trials have been launched for existing Airtel customers in Delhi, Hyderabad, Vizag, Madhurai, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Chennai, Coimbatore, Mumbai.

Airtel's 4G services are available across India including recently launched in Hubballi-Dharwad, Ambala, Karnal, Yamunanagar, Hisar, Rohtak, Nasik, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Mangaluru, Bengaluru, Pune, Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Phagwara, Kapurthala, Moga, Bathinda and Patiala.
