The Airtel 4G Hotspot device (model number E5573Cs-609) has been made available for purchase on e-commerce platform Amazon India. This comes roughly a month after the device received a price cut across the country, which brought its price down from Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 999. As its name suggests, the Airtel 4G Hotspot allows users to connect up to 10 devices, from smartphones and laptops to tablets and smart TVs, on a portable network for connectivity on the go. It competes with the JioFi M2S 4G hotspot by Reliance Jio.
According to the listing on Amazon India, Airtel 4G Hotspot will be eligible for free home delivery as it is priced above Rs. 599. Prime members will get the device delivered in one day. Payments made using Amazon Pay balance will get the customers Rs. 75 cashback on purchases made before January 19.
The device requires an Airtel SIM card to work, and needs to be recharged periodically, just like the SIM card on a mobile phone. If Airtel 4G network is not available in a region, the hotspot will switch to 3G network. On its official webpage, the company claims the device can connect up to 10 devices at a time, and delivers battery life of up to 6 hours.
As mentioned above, Airtel 4G Hotspot faces the biggest competition from the JioFi M2S, which offers similar features at the same price. So the real difference then becomes the data prices, which Jio recently lowered to an all-time low of Rs. 149 for 1GB per day for 28 days. Airtel has been revising its prepaid plans as well, and now offers 1GB per day at Rs. 199 and 2GB data per day for 28 days at Rs. 349.
