  • A budget big screen phone but any good?
Vikas Pakhe (May 26, 2014) on Gadgets 360
So here's Nokia, announcing yet another big screen and a descent 4G phone. Its little expensive then the Lumia 620 and the low end budget Lumia 520. A affordable descent 4G phone with good camera and better performance, did Nokia made it up? I have been using thisphone back a year and found this a really great phone actually. keeping in mind a an affordable big screen model, the camera was an average then the other high end Lumia's. The 5MP clicks did well when the conditions were perfect but like the other phone out there, 625 went a lil dizzy at low light and at other spots. Various landscape photos lacked detail and were blurry when snapped more colors. it also did well at close up's but again lacked the details every photographer loves! It was worse at low light; Lumia 625's camera isn't bad but also is not great! Now talking about the videos, lumia 625 offered a 1080p and a 720p resolution options. Still, the quality of the videos is fairly decent and that's the most important thing. Speaking about the performance less because we all know Windows phone are great at performance, it did well with is 1.2 Ghz Snapdragon S4. There were no frequent hangs like we find in the most mid end phones, and nor it lacked in playing games. Display again was not as good as expected, as this one was a big screen; o the display was a little detail less! Google lovers won't like the phone as the Lumia 625 browse's with the Internet Explorer which wasn't bad though. It opened web pages easily (yeah it will depend on your cellular connection). The screen on the Lumia 625 is both a blessing and a curse for web browsing, as while the large size means that you can usually read a web page quite comfortably without too much zooming or scrolling, the low resolution means that things are never entirely sharp and generally don't look all that good. It's also not helped by the fact that the screen seems to pick up a lot of smears and smudges. However the headline feature is 4G, as this is one of the cheapest phones available that can actually get a 4G signal. Talking about audio ouput, the speakers didn't act well on both ; Calling and Music. It lacked details and was a little scratch when played at higher volumes! Thankfully, the Lumia 625 seems to have far better battery life than the 620, and I loved the backup it offered withthe 2000mAh battery! Till now it is been acting well and but again it is a non removable one so as time passes , it will show you some bad! The back of the phone is incredibly plain as it's dominated by the almost featureless polycarbonate cover with big screen making it a little uncomfortable to hold on! Well coming to the end, those who want a big screen, internet love and a average camera, Go for it! Yet camera lovers will hate this phone!

  • Nokia Lumia 625 Bigger. Better. Faster.
Abdul Moiz (May 8, 2014) on Gadgets 360
The Lumia 625 is not just an update to the upper-budget Lumia 620 it's the biggest Lumia handset there is, with built in 4G at a very reasonable price. The 625 has a large 4.7in screen, which is even bigger than the 4.5 inches of the Lumia 925. This makes the phone quite a handful, but it?s still possible to use one-handed; particularly as, unlike Android, you don?t have to pull menus down from the top of the screen. It's also pretty heavy at 159g, which is 20g more than the Lumia 925, if nowhere near the weighty Lumia 920. Unlike most handsets with screens this large, which tend to have at least 1,280x720 pixels, the Lumia 625 betrays its budget nature with its 800x480-pixel screen. By current standards, this is very few pixels to stretch across such a large screen, and leads to a low 201ppi pixel density figure. Headlines aside, you definitely can?t read text on web pages when zoomed out, and the jagged edges to fonts can look decidedly retro when compared to a phone with a 1,280x720 or 1,920x1,080 resolution. However, as long as you don?t mind zooming when surfing, the Lumia 625 is a reasonable web browsing phone. It's certainly quick enough to cope with complicated web pages and scrolls around without missing a beat. A fast score of 1,129ms in the Sunspider JavaScript benchmark backs up my subjective impressions. Image quality from the IPS panel is also reasonable. Whites are bright and even and colours look accurate, but the Lumia 625 doesn't have the Lumia 620's ClearBlack coating, so doesn't have as deep blacks or vibrant colours; on the 625 the red of BBC News doesn?t have the punch we're used to, for example. As you'd expect, the 625 comes with Nokia's HERE Maps and Nokia Music apps. These give you worldwide offline mapping, turn-by-turn navigation and a large number of free music tracks, organised by various playlists. The offline and navigation features of HERE Maps can be found on Android phones in Google Maps, but HERE Maps lets you store entire countries offline rather than just sections, and we found Nokia's maps to be sometimes more detailed. Nokia Music is an excellent selection of high-quality free music. The Lumia 625 has a 5-megapixel camera, and Nokia's impressive Smart Cam app. This takes several photos at once when you press the shutter (7 photos on the 625, compared to ten on more expensive Lumias). As well as letting you choose the best shot, having more than one photo of the same scene lets the 625 perform some fancy effects. Action Shot, for example, overlays an object moving past the camera on a single frame, so you can see the progression across the photo. The Remove Moving Objects function does what you?d expect, such as removing a passing bus from a shot of a landmark. A feature we haven?t seen before is Motion Focus. i definetely recommend people who are tired of using android and want to a windows phone that's worth your money........

  • Buy only for big screen.
Praful Yadav (May 5, 2014) on Gadgets 360
Pros MicroSD memory card expansion slot. Latest Windows Phone 8 software. Excellent Nokia apps and services. Durable and colorful shell. Cons Low resolution display Limited RAM-With just 512 MB of RAM, you wouldn't count on being able to play lots of high end games. Nokia has a focus on imaging, but the camera is pretty basic. It comes with a 5 mp camera without Carl Zeiss optics . The front facing camera is also a .3mp VGA quality camera. Photos from the rear camera don't look bad though and are perfectly acceptable for social networks and digital sharing. No wireless charging. Lack of apps in window store. At this price if screen is not much matter 820 is one the best option with almost same price range, better camera, better processor, better screen resolution and more ram.

Manas Pandey (May 7, 2014) on Gadgets 360
By Manas Pandey, Nokia has launched the Lumia 625.The 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor in the Nokia Lumia 625 is faster than the processors in either the Lumia 620 or Lumia 720. With regards to the Lumia 625's looks it, well, looks like a Lumia - albeit a chunkier one than we're used to. The dimensions of 133.2 x 72.2 x 9.2mm make it the longest and widest Lumia on the market, though it's actually quite thin. At 159g it's a heavy beast, outweighing even the Nokia Lumia 1020. However, weight aside it feels reasonable to hold, with comfortable, slightly rounded edges, though the screen is large enough that those with particularly small hands may need to stretch a bit to operate it one-handed. Available in black, white, yellow, red or green, the Nokia Lumia 625 is just as colourful as we've come to expect from the Lumia range. It's also just as plastic, with a removable polycarbonate shell. The front of the Lumia 625 primarily contains the 4.7-inch 480 x 800 IPS LCD display, with a pixel density of 201 pixels per inch. That was presumably one of the cost-cutting measures required to actually make this handset possible at a low price, but the result is a screen that really is a little bit worse than we'd like. Other than the screen the front of the Nokia Lumia 625 has black bars along the top and bottom which hold various buttons and sensors. The bottom bar has the three soft touch buttons you'll find on every Windows Phone 8 handset - back, start and search - while the top bar holds the earpiece, the 0.3MP front-facing camera lens and Nokia's logo. The back of the phone is incredibly plain as it's dominated by the almost featureless polycarbonate cover. There's another small Nokia logo across the middle, while near the bottom there's a speaker and towards the top there's the main 5MP camera lens and LED flash. The bottom of the handset just has a micro USB port for plugging in a charger or connecting it to a computer. The right hand edge has a camera button near the bottom, a power button in the middle and a volume rocker near the top, which like most things on this handset is standard Lumia design. The left edge has no buttons, ports or other features, and the top of the Lumia 625 merely has a 3.5mm headphone port. In other words it's a fairly plain handset through and through but that's not necessarily a bad thing, as at least it avoids looking ugly, and if you've ever used a Lumia handset before you'll be right at home here. The back cover can easily be peeled off and underneath it you'll find the micro SIM card slot and a micro SD card slot which supports cards of up to 64GB. You'll also find the 2000 mAh battery hidden back here, which is substantially bigger than the 1300 mAh battery that the Lumia 620 ships with, however while the one in the 620 is removable this one isn't. Plus with such a big jump in screen size the Lumia 625 will need all the battery it can get. However if u'r a windows fan then gor for l720 or u can check moto g.
