Micromax was once one of the major names in the Indian smartphone industry, but with the advent of Chinese brands, the company lost its edge and has slipped down the sales charts. It is now looking to stage a comeback with two new smartphones — the Micromax Infinity N11 and the Micromax Infinity N12 — both of which claim to offer capable hardware, good cameras, and flashy design at competitive price points. Micromax Infinity N12 Summary

The Micromax Infinity N12 flaunts flashy aesthetics with a gradient design and a decent build quality, but using the phone with one hand is a struggle. The colour rendition and accuracy of the 6.19-inch HD+ (720x1500 pixels) display are just about average with decent viewing angle and sunlight legibility. The nearly stock Android experience is a good thing to have, but the sluggish performance mars the experience.

The phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio P22 SoC which is good enough for casual Web browsing and light multitasking. But as soon as the phone is subjected to stress, it starts to struggle and the lags became more noticeable when multiple apps are running in the background. The gaming performance of the phone is downright bad.

The 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor capture good photos under natural light, but struggle badly under low-light scenarios, as details were missing and colour saturation is also below average. The phone’s 4,000mAh battery easily lasts a full day of usage and is one of the key highlights of the phone. To sum up, the phone is simply not worth buying in the face of competition from the likes of the Redmi 7 and the Realme 3 in the same price bracket.
