The rivalry between Samsung and Apple is something that has grabbed headlines the world over. Not shy of taking digs and potshots at one another, Samsung on Friday released two advertisements promoting the new Galaxy Tab S and taking jabs at the Apple iPad in the process.

The first advertisement has two friends watching a scary movie on an iPad and a Samsung Galaxy Tab S respectively. A particular scene with a dark figure approaching is shown on both the devices, with the only difference being that the figure is visible on the Galaxy Tab S against the dark screen of the iPad. The accompanying voiceover says, "What went wrong here? Ah, It's not a Super AMOLED. What if it were a Samsung Galaxy Tab S? Compared to many LCDs, Super AMOLEDs give you 100 times higher contrast. Instead of 1000:1, you get 100,000:1 contrast. Conventional LCDs get their colour using backlight but Super AMOLEDs turn off pixel by pixel, each emitting their own light. So you get all the fine details and varied shades of black that many LCDs can't show."

The second one features a crying baby and its father both fighting over an iPad. The baby wants to watch an animated film while the father wants to catch a sports game. Promoting the Samsung tablet's to show two apps side-by-side, the voiceover in the ad says, '"What's going on? Ah, it looks like dad's tablet can only do one thing at a time. What if it were a Samsung Galaxy Tab S? With the Galaxy Tab S, the whole family has something to smile about."

Last month, Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab S 8.4, Galaxy Tab S 10.5, the first tablets in the world with AMOLED displays.
