Nexus 7 successor to be powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 Processor

It looks like the next generation Nexus 7 would be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, as suggested by recent rumours.

After the appearance of a Nexus branded Asus tablet on the FCC's website, indicating that the tablet would have  Qualcomm Processor, the same tablet has now surfaced on the Bluetooth SIG website. The listing, codenamed K009, mentions that the 7-inch tablet would be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core CPU, and will be available in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America. It even features a small picture of the tablet and while it's difficult to arrive on any conclusions after taking a look at the picture, it does resemble the current generation Nexus 7 tablet.

nexus7-secondgen-bluetoothsig.jpgThe FCC listing of the tablet had revealed that the second generation tablet's LCD panel was supplied by JDI (Japan Display), and that it would also feature a rear camera unlike the current generation Nexus 7, which would be supplied by Chicony. The Wi-Fi and CPU hardware would be supplied by Qualcomm, as per the listing. The tablet unit was tested by the FCC from April 25 through May 17.

A recent report had also claimed that Google was very close to launching its next generation Nexus 7 tablet. The website had got this bit of information from market research company IHS. The report had also mentioned that Japan Display and AUO have been roped to manufacture the display for the second generation Nexus 7. In addition to this, Quanta is the company that is making the tablet itself, a per the report.

Another news report by DigiTimes had claimed that the new Nexus 7 tablet will indeed start retailing in the month of July. This report added that Google will price the 16GB version of Nexus 7 successor for $229. It also said that the price of this tablet had been deliberately kept higher than its predecessor so that the company was not competing directory with the low-end tablet makers. However, Reuters reported that the tablet might sell at the same price as that of the Nexus 7 or even lower.

The other rumoured specifications of the forthcoming 7-inch tablet from Google include a 1920x1200 display, with a pixel density of 323 pixels per inch.
The Nexus 7 tablet was made by Google in collaboration with Asus. The tablet sports a 7-inch IPS display screen with a 1280x800 pixels resolution. The other features of the tablet include 1GB of RAM, a 1.2-megapixel front camera and 4,325 mAh battery. This tablet is available on the Google Play Store for $199.
