The ecommerce website, Flipkart is now selling the Nexus 7 (2012) tablet for Rs. 9,999 for the 16GB model while the 32GB variant is retailing for Rs. 13,499. However, the Google Play store is still offering the original Nexus 7 for Rs. 15,999 for the 16GB variant and Rs. 18,999 for the 32GB variant.
The price drop can be said to be exclusive from Flipkart and could be seen as an exercise to clear old stock of the Nexus 7 (2012) tablets before Google rolls out the next generation Nexus (2013) tablet in India.
To remind you, Google unveiled the new Nexus 7 (2013) tablet running Android 4.3 back in July and the device is now available in selective countries. However, there has been no word on the availability of the new Nexus 7 (2013) tablet from the search engine giant. We speculate that the company will release the tablet in India soon.
Before this, Amazon India was offering the Nexus 7 (2012) tablet at a starting price of Rs. 11,999 for 16GB model. The website had also listed the 32GB variant of the Nexus 7 tablet with a price point of Rs. 15,999.
The original Nexus 7 tablet natively ran Android 4.2 Jelly Bean but the company rolled out the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update recently. It is powered by Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, with a clock speed of 1.3GHz. The Nexus 7 comes with a 7-inch IPS display screen with a 1280x800 pixels resolution. The other specifications of the tablet include 1GB RAM, 1.2 megapixel front facing camera and 4325mAh battery.
