It features the stunning-new Retina display with 2048x1536p resolution, Apple's A5X processor with quad-core graphics, a 5MP camera, and 10-hours of battery-life.
The new iPad will be available in 6 variants, with a further choice between black and white colours in each variant. The pricing ranges between 30,500 and 50,900 with Wi-Fi models retailing for Rs. 30500 (16GB), Rs. 36500 (32GB), and Rs. 42500 (64GB), while the Wi-Fi+4G models will be sold for Rs. 38900 (16GB), Rs. 44900 (32GB), and Rs. 50900 (64GB).
It is worth noting that the new iPad's 4G chip is not compatible with India's 4G spectrum, so they fallback and operate on the 3G network, just like the iPad 2.
Apart from India, the new iPad goes in 8 other countries today - Colombia, Estonia, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, South Africa, and Thailand. With this the new iPad is now available in 55 countries worldwide.
Apple has announced that it will continue to sell the iPad 2, at a reduced pricing starting at Rs. 24,500.
