Computer peripherals maker Kobian has announced the launch of its new tablet mTab Rio today. Sporting a 9.7-inch IPS display, the tablet is now available at a price-tag of INR 11,999 in the country.

According to the company, mTab Rio also features 1.2GHz processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. The tablet runs on Android 4.0 and comes with Wi-Fi connectivity. It also allows 3G connectivity via USB dongle.

"Today, the trend is driven by the successive devices that deliver higher resolution display. IPS LCD display is a smart driven technology adopted by major brands to provide better quality of viewing experience or show tailing when touched making them the ideal for Tablet experience. Mercury mTab & mTab Neo has been a great success in India, we are confident that people shall enjoy Mercury mTab Rio equally or more," stated Sushmita Das, Country Manager India, Kobian.

Among other features, the mTab Rio comes with 2MP rear camera, front camera as well as HDMI out.

The flood of entry-level Android tablets does not seem to stop in the country, as more and more manufacturers has started releasing the second or even third tablets in their portfolio. Recently, iBall launched its third version of Slide tablet, which also features 3G connectivity. Similarly, iBarry also released a 3G variant of AX02 in the form of AX03G that also features upgraded internal storage.
