Following an outrage over Apple's recent confirmation that some of the iPad Pro units are indeed shipping with a very slight bend and it is completely normal, a senior executive of the Cupertino-based company has come out and reiterated that the iPad-maker stands by the tablet. The outcry over the structural integrity of the iPad Pro started after some iPad Pro buyers complained how their tablets had developed a small curve or bend during the normal course of usage.

Dan Riccio, SVP of Hardware Engineering at Apple, last week reportedly responded to a customer's concerns about the iPad Pro bendgate in an email, which has since appeared online. The email notes that the iPad Pro “meets or exceeds all of Apple's high-quality standards of design and precision manufacturing.” He also added that the flatness specification of the iPad Pro at up to 400 microns is even tighter than the previous generation. “This 400 micron variance is less than half a millimetre (or the width of fewer than four sheets of paper at most) and this level of flatness won't change during normal use over the lifetime of the product. Note, these slight variations do not affect the functions of the device in any way,” Riccio further explained in the email.

Although Ricco's email doesn't deny the company's previous statement, it does try and explain in detail what is actually happening with the device. This should help calm the frustrated consumers, who believed that the company was shrugging off their concerns and any bend in an expensive device such as the iPad Pro is unacceptable. As per the company's past statement, the flatness variations are a result of the cooling process used in the manufacturing of the device. These variations are visible on the device right out of the box.

At this point, any consumers, who still believe that their ‘bent' iPad Pro are defective and should be replaced, don't have any recourse apart the normal return window available in various markets.
