Late last year I wrote an article about Chinese men and women who were queued up outside of Apple stores in New York with the hopes of buying an iPhone 4 or an iPad. These devices would then be smuggled into China and resold through an underground electronics black market that is largely fuelled by the sale of Apple's sleek products.
Well, guess what: They're back! This time, waiting in line to buy the highly sought iPad 2.
For the Chinese men and women buying the new iPad 2, showing up early to the Apple store can reap its rewards quickly. The device is so difficult to acquire that some customers are buying them on Craigslist, eBay and from electronics resellers for several hundred dollars over the original price.
You can read my original story here, which explains how Apple products are purchased in the United States and smuggled back into China for resale.
