The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean-based HCL Me Champ Tab is powered by 1GHz ARM Cortex processor with a Mali-400 GPU, coupled with 1GB of RAM. It features a 7-inch display with 800x480 pixels resolution. Other features of the tablet include a 2-megapixel rear camera, VGA front-facing camera, 4GB of built-in storage (further expandable up to 32GB via microSD card), a 3100mAh battery, and connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Mini-HDMI and 3G (via dongle).
The HCL Me Champ Tab also comes with pre-loaded content for kids, including exercises in art, geography, history, language and mathematics. The device also includes interactive books, and a Creativity app which can create interactive books by adding voice recordings, pictures and texts. Other features on the tablet include 3.5mm audio jack, full-HD video playback and G-Sensor. The HCL Me Champ Tab also includes an Application Manager that offers parents the ability to select apps for kids to access. The HCL children's tablet's listing was first reported by Fonearena.
Earlier this year, Samsung launched a new Android tablet, the Galaxy Tab 3 Kids, a variant of the Galaxy Tab 3 tablet that was targeted at children. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids features a 7-inch WSVGA display with 1024x600 pixels resolution and a pixel density of 170ppi. The new tablet for kids is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
The Samsung GALAXY Tab 3 Kids comes pre-loaded with children's apps and the Kid's Store. The Tab also has a Time Management feature that allows parents to set specific time periods for device usage for their kids.
