Asus Chairman Jonney Shih announced all the products. The latest Fonepad 7 (FE375CG) and Fonepad 8 (FE380CG) tablet devices run Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box with company's Asus ZenUI on top. Both the tablet devices come with built-in 3G connectivity and phone functionality.
The dual-SIM supporting Fonepad 7 (FE375CG) and Fonepad 8 (FE380CG) come with 7-inch and 8-inch display respectively. The resolution on both the devices is the same 800x1280 pixel resolution. Notably for the Fonepad 8, the company has narrowed bezels to 5.06mm to provide a 72.2 percent screen-to-body ratio while keeping the almost same width as the previous generation 7-inch Fonepad. The new 7-inch Asus Fonepad 7 (FE375CG) has been kept at 10.9cm wide and the Asus Fonepad 8 (FE380CG) measures 12cm across.
Both Asus Fonepad 7 and 8 (FE375CG and FE380CG) feature the latest 64-bit Intel Atom Z3560 1.8GHz quad-core processor. The camera specifications on the devices include a 5-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixels front-facing camera.
The Fonepad 7 (FE375CG) weighs 299 grams and Fonepad 8 (FE380CG) weighs 328 grams. The tablets will be available in Black, White, Gold and Red.
The Taiwanese company also partnered with KIDDI also unveiled what it is calling the world's lightest 8-inch LTE tablet, the Asus MeMO Pad 8 (ME581CL). At 299 grams the tablet runs on Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box with company's latest intuitive Asus ZenUI on top.
The 8-inch Asus MeMO Pad 8 (ME581CL) features a full-HD 1920x1200 IPS display. It features the 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 2.3GHz quad-core processor, with no detail about the RAM size as yet.
The camera option on the device is same as the FonePad tablets at 5-megapixel rear camera and a front 2-megapixel camera. Connectivity on the tablet includes Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 4G LTE, and NFC.
Along with this, the company has also refreshed the MeMO Pad series with new versions of the Asus MeMO Pad 7 (ME176C) and MeMo Pad 8 (ME181C), which feature the 64-bit Intel Atom Z3745 processor (up to 1.86GHz, quad-core). Both the tablets will be available from mid-June.
The company has also detailed the availability of 5-inch Asus PadFone X that fits into a 8.9-inch tablet dock, which was earlier unveiled at CES 2014.
