Asus Set to Launch New ZenPad Tablet in India on Friday

Asus with a tweet on Wednesday teased the Friday launch of a new ZenPad tablet in India. The teaser image posted by Asus India suggests the tablet to run on an Intel processor, and a VisualMaster HD display. While the company is yet to announce which specific model will be launched, it may be one of the many models introduced in India without availability at the ZenFestival in August. The tablets are yet to see rollout in the country.

The Asus ZenPad 7.0 (Z370CG) was priced starting at Rs. 11,999, with a bundled Audio Cover at Rs. 14,999. The Asus ZenPad 8.0 (Z380KL) was priced starting at Rs. 14,999 with an Audio Cover at Rs. 17,999. Asus may launch its other ZenPad tablets also, the ZenPad S 8.0 (Z580C) and ZenPad S 8.0 Z580CA, globally announced during the Computex 2015 in June alongside the ZenPad 7.0 (Z370CG) and ZenPad 8.0 (Z380KL).

The Asus ZenPad 7.0 (Z370CG) features a 7-inch (1280x800 pixels) HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass for protection. It is powered by a 64-bit quad-core Intel Atom x3-C3230 processor coupled with a choice of 1GB or 2GB of RAM. It comes with 8GB or 16GB of built-in storage that's expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). The company is likely to announce the prices of its different SKUs of the ZenPad 7.0 at market availability. The 1GB RAM variant of the ZenPad 7.0 tablet will sport a 5-megapixel rear and 0.3-megapixel front camera while the 2GB RAM model will pack an 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front camera. The Android 5.0 Lollipop-based tablet runs Zen UI on top. The ZenPad 7.0 (Z370CG) supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and Micro-USB connectivity options. The tablet also comes with Micro-SIM and support GPRS/ EDGE and 3G via SIM.

For battery life, Asus claims that the ZenPad 7.0 can deliver up to 8 hours battery life and comes with 13Wh Li-polymer battery. Available in Black, White, and Aurora Metallic colours, it measures 189x110.9x8.7mm, and weighs 272 grams.

The ZenPad 8.0 (Z380KL), on the other hand, comes with LTE connectivity along with a Micro-SIM slot. It runs on a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) SoC. The company also lists that the ZenPad 8.0 (Z380KL) comes with an optional octa-core Snapdragon 615 (MSM8929) processor. It features an 8-inch 1280x800 pixel LED-backlit IPS display, with a choice of 1GB or 2GB of RAM, and a choice of 8GB or 16GB of storage that is expandable via microSD card (up to 64GB). Apart from 4G, connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB, GPS, and Glonass. It bears a 2-megapixel front camera, and a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus. It will be available in Black, White, and Aurora Metallic colour variants, measures 209x123x8.5 mm, and weighs 350 grams. Its 15.2Wh battery is rated to deliver up to 9 hours of battery life.

The ZenPad S 8.0 (Z580CA) comes with a USB Type-C port, is just 6.68mm thick, and weighs 299 grams. It features an 8-inch 2048x1536 pixel (QXGA) IPS display with a pixel density of 324ppi. It is powered by a 64-bit 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor coupled with 2GB or 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM. It comes with a choice of 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB built-in storage variants with expandability support via microSD card (up to 128GB).

The ZenPad S 8.0 (Z580CA) sports an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, while its connectivity options include GPS, Glonass, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE. It measures 203.2x134.5x6.68mm. The ZenPad S 8.0 (Z580CA) also comes with an optional Z Stylus, which supports up to 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity and up to a 1.2mm writing tip. It features a 15.2Wh battery that's rated to deliver up to 8 hours of battery life.

The Asus ZenPad S 8.0 (Z580C) is identical to the ZenPad S 8.0 (Z580CA), except it comes with a 64-bit 1.33GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3530, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, Micro-USB instead of USB Type-C, no 4GB of RAM option, weighs more at 319 grams, and measures in at 203.2x134.5x6.9mm. It also sports a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
