Asus has announced a new iteration of its Transformer Pad Infinity tablet at Computex in Taipei.

The tablet sports a 10.1-inch LED backlit IPS display that has a resolution of 2560x1600 pixels for 178-degree wide viewing angles, in addition to support for 10-point multi-touch. It is powered by a 1.9GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 4 processor, has 2GB RAM and a 72-core GeForce graphics processor. The device sports a 5-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and a 1.2-megapixel front facing camera. The Transformer Pad Infinity offers 32GB of internal storage. The Transformer Pad Infinity supports 4K video output through HDMI.

The device features a richer audio experience through SonicMaster-enhanced audio. The new iteration of the Transformer tablet comes with a redesigned 254mm keyboard dock that now features a multi-touch touchpad, USB 3.0 and an SDXC card reader, and an additional battery that gives longer battery life when the tablet is docked.

The first generation Transformer Pad Infinity was announced during the Mobile World Congress, earlier this year. The tablet offers a 1920x1200 Super IPS display. It's powered by a 1.6GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad-core CPU and features a 12-core GPU. It features an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front facing camera.

While the Transformer Pad Infinity comes in 16, 32 and 64GB variants, each of these belong to the Wi-Fi or LTE clan. Asus had made it clear that the LTE versions would not carry the Nvidia Tegra 3 chip, but instead run on Snapdragon's S-4 dual-core processor. Asus had announced a change in the name of their tablet line-up from "Transformer Prime" to "Transformer Pad" with the launch announcement. The Transformer Pad Infinity is the first new tablet under the new moniker.
