Apple focussed blog iMore is reporting that the Cupertino-based company will unveil the
new iPhone on September 12.
The website
quotes "sources who have proven accurate in the past" to say that Apple is holding a special event on Wednesday, September 12 to unveil the
new iPhone, as well as the
iPad mini, the much-rumoured smaller version of the iPad. The report goes on to say that the iPhone will be released on September 21, nine days after the event.
The website speculates that the iPad mini may go on sale the same day as the
new iPhone, though it has no concrete information regarding the same. It is also reporting a refresh of the iPod line on the same day.
The dates and the rumoured announcements are in line with expectations as Apple is expected to refresh the iPhone and iPad line up in time for the holiday season. Some believe the iPad mini is also a nailed-on certainty, especially with Google's
Nexus 7 tablet proving to be a
smash hit.
The news comes on the day when purported pictures of the
new iPhone were leaked by a Japanese blog.
