Nvidia recently announced the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its high-performance Shield Tablet will start rolling out from Tuesday, November 18.

However, the US chipmaker has reportedly already started rolling out the update from Monday, a day in advance, if a screenshot from an Nvidia Shield Tablet user is to be believed.

According to Gadgetzarena, the Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA (over-the-air) update for the Nvidia Shield Tablet is about 705.27MB in size. The update primarily brings the latest Android build for the tablet alongside other features.

The company in a blog post had said, "Nvidia engineers are bringing the new Android 5.0 Lollipop to Shield on November 18. That'll make it one of the first tablets with Lollipop, and it will feature a new 'Material Design' interface and improved app performance."

Notably, the Nvidia Shield Tablet is now the first non-Nexus tablet to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. It is now also among the few tablets running the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop version, including the Nexus 9 (that comes preloaded with Android Lollipop), Nexus 7 (2012 and 2013), and Nexus 10.

"Also included in the update: Shield tablet's preloaded Dabbler app. Besides a new interface inspired by Lollipop's material design language, our painting software will offer full support for layers, and users can now share live Dabbler sessions over Twitch," Nvidia noted in the official blog. The company also shared a YouTube video that talked about few new upcoming features for the Shield Tablet with the new Android update.

As per the unofficial changelog via a Shield tablet user named Vincent, the Android 5.0 Lollipop update bring, the new Nvidia Grid On-Demand gaming service; enhanced DirectStylus launcher; USB Y-cable support; enhanced console mode with 4K output support; improved charger compatibility and performance, and optimised GPS functionality.

The new update for the Nvidia Shield Tablet also brings a new version of the Dabbler app, which is a drawing and painting app that is optimised for use with the DirectStylus. The company is expected to reveal the official changelog of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update soon.

Nvidia launched the Shield Tablet in July aimed at gamers who wanted the convenience of a mobile device.
