Amazon is to introduce up to five or six tablet SKUs, or stock-keeping units, Demos Parneros, president of U.S. Retail for Staples Inc told Reuters.
Kindle Fire has been a decent success for the company and it wants to build on it. While, it is not sure that these six tablets will be completely different or just different storage variants.
The original Kindle Fire was announced last year ahead of the holidays and it ran on a custom version of Android with features like 1GHz dual core processor, 512MB RAM and 8GB of storage.
The next version of Kindle Fire has been in rumours for the past many weeks and with the release of Nexus 7, it has become very important for the e-retail giant to introduce something that can take on the Google tablet.
