Acer has announced two new tablets, the Iconia One 7 and Iconia Tab 7, at its 'a touch more connected' event in New York on Tuesday.

The company has announced that the Acer Iconia One 7 will be available in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) by mid-May at a starting price of EUR 139 (Rs. 11,600 approximately), while the tablet will be released in pan-American markets by the end of June at a starting price of US $129.99 (Rs. 7,850 approximately).

The Acer Iconia Tab 7, on the other hand, will be available at a starting price of EUR 149 (Rs. 12,400 approximately) in Europe, Middle East and Africa by mid-May, while the tablet will be released in Latin American markets at the end of June with a starting price of MXP 1,990 (Rs. 9,150 approximately). Acer Iconia Tab 7 features a SIM card slot, and supports voice-calling and 3G connectivity.

The Acer Iconia One 7 tablet runs the dated Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, while the company notes it is upgradeable to Android 4.4 KitKat. However, no release details from the company on the Android KitKat update.

It is powered by a 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor coupled with PowerVR SGX544 GPU and 1GB of RAM. The Iconia One 7 tablet features a 7-inch LED IPS display with a (1280x800 pixels) HD resolution and offers a 16:10 aspect ratio.

The company notes that the Iconia One 7 tablet will be available in Black, Blue, Red, Pink, and White colours. It packs dual cameras - 5-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. The Iconia One 7 comes in two built-in storage variants 8GB and 16GB with expandable storage support (up to 32GB). It comes with a 3700mAh battery.

Acer has confirmed that the Iconia Tab 7 tablet will be available in two models depending on the region: A1-713HD and A1-713.

The Iconia Tab 7 (A1-713HD) version runs Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box, while the Iconia Tab 7 (A1-713) runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and is upgradable to Android 4.4.

The Iconia Tab 7 (A1-713HD) comes with 7-inch IPS display with 1280x800 pixels resolution and sports a 5-megapixel rear camera. The Iconia Tab 7 (A1-713), on the other hand, features a 7-inch 1024x600 pixels resolution and packs a 2-megapixel rear camera.

Unfortunately, the Taiwanese manufacturer has not revealed the full specifications of both the Iconia One 7 and Iconia Tab 7 tablets.

Commenting on the launch, Maverick Shih, president of Acer's BYOC and Tablet Business Group said, "Since the beginning, Acer's mission has been to break down the barriers between people and technology and make the latest technologies accessible to all people. The new Iconia One 7 is a great example of how we continue this heritage by offering mobile devices with great functionality, unique designs and excellent value."

Acer also introduced five new laptops at the 'a touch more connected' event, along with two new all-in-one PCs, and a new Chromebook. The Taiwanese giant also unveiled the Acer Liquid Leap fitness band and Liquid Jade smartphone.
