While Apple is yet to make a confirmation around its next-generation iPad Pro models, an MIIT certification has now allegedly been spotted that reveals the development. The certification also hints at the new Apple Pencil version that was previously reported to come with an AirPods-like, proximity-based connectivity experience. Unlike the previous models, the 2018 iPad Pro lineup is also expected to have a Face ID integration and thin-bezel display panels. There could also be a USB Type-C port instead of Apple's proprietary Lightning port. A new rumour has suggested that the 2018 iPad Pro family will be powered by an Apple A12X processor.

Four new Apple models have received the MIIT certification, as spotted by MySmartPrice. Among the four models, the devices with model number A1876, A1980, and A1993 are believed to be the new iPad Pro models, whereas the device with model number A2051 is expected to be the new Apple Pencil. The alleged brief description of the latter on the MIIT site, as shared by the MySmartPrice folks, shows that it is a Bluetooth device. It notably received the certification on September 29 - in line with the other devices that are likely to be the new iPad models. However, one device with model number A1993 apparently got the MIIT certification on September 18.

As per the alleged screenshots of the certification listings shared by MySmartPrice, the new devices are manufactured by Apple. A previous report by Guilherme Rambo of 9to5Google suggested that the 2018 iPad Pro lineup will include two Wi-Fi models and two LTE models in different size options.

Interestingly, Rambo has now updated the previous report with the mentioning of the Apple A12X processor. The new chip, which is codenamed Vortex, is said to include the A12X GPU and comes with partner number T8027.

The 2018 iPad Pro is speculated to have the absence of the traditional Touch ID-enabled home button that will be replaced with a TrueDepth Camera system. This will enable Face ID on the new iPad models, as suggested by a recent iOS beta. The new models are also rumoured to ditch the Lightning port and come with a USB Type-C port that could enable 4K HDR video output on compatible external displays. Aside from the major new hardware changes, there is also a speculation around a Magnetic Connector that may enable connectivity with accessories such as the Smart Keyboard and third-party peripherals.

As we mentioned, Apple hasn't confirmed any details around its 2018 iPad Pro lineup. It is, however, believed that the company could host an event later this month to unveil the new offerings.
