  • Sony Xperia L "the camera experts camera phone"
Abdul Moiz (May 8, 2014) on Gadgets 360
The handset doesn't have a spectacular specification, but it all works well as a package. You get a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM and Android 4.1 - not much on paper, compared to the near-2GHz monsters we're now seeing on premium smartphones, but I've no complaints about the handset's performance. Apps open and shut with a snap and animations are silky-smooth. As expected, the phone's performance in Sunspider 1.0 JavaScript benchmark wasn't spectacular. It completed the test in 2,646ms using the default Chrome browser, which is twice as long as I saw from the Xperia SP with its 1.7GHz dual-core chip. Chrome is slow in Sunspider, but even with the faster Dolphin browser I only saw 1,564ms, which is very much a middling result. Subjectively, this average benchmark score didn?t make much difference to the phone's web browsing performance. The Maps app glides smoothly under your finger, and there's barely a hesitation while panning smoothly around web pages - only a barely perceptible slowdown when scrolling past a large image. When compared side by side with a Samsung Galaxy S3, the more powerful S3 had slightly smoother browsing, but there's not much in it. You shouldn?t have a problem with gaming, as the Xperia L's processor produced a competent performance in the 3DMark benchmark. 4074 is a much better score than I expect to see from a phone at this price, and is up with much more expensive phones such as the HTC One X+. It's also quicker in 3D games than the Samsung Galaxy S3, showing you're getting better 3D performance than last year's premium handsets. I was also impressed with the Xperia L's screen. Again, its 854x480 resolution is pretty standard for a phone at this price, and you have to zoom in to read text on web pages, but I saw bright whites and punchy colours. The Xperia L's LCD display doesn?t have the true blacks of an AMOLED screen, but blacks are still very deep. It's a high-quality display for a relatively inexpensive handset. Sony bills the Xperia L as the "camera experts? camera phone", and I was impressed by the performance of its backside-illuminated camera sensor. A backside-illuminated sensor has the sensor's circuitry on the rear rather than at the front, so there's no wiring in the way of light This should lead to better image quality under low light, and the Xperia L takes some of the best low-light photos I've seen, with far more detail and less than noise than the Samsung Galaxy S4's shots. Contrast was impressive, with no sign of overexposure in lighter areas even on a sunlit day, but details became muddy when I zoomed in, showing the limits of the Xperia L's eight megapixels. reaching the sensor. Video quality was acceptable under reasonable lighting, but under low light the frame rate dropped right down, making footage seriously jerky - this isn?t a phone to film gigs or nights out. its a good buy under 15000 but u can also get MOto g who are not brand consious

  • It is a good phone in the price range of 12-13k
Abhishek Chatrani (May 2, 2014) on Gadgets 360
Picture quality Sony always provide the best Display for its phone and this also doesn't disappoint us. It has a resolution of 480x854 pixels which is not so bad with these price range. Phone speed It comes with a processor of 1 ghz dual core snapdragon processor which is a perfect match with its 1 GB ram which makes the phone more powerful. Camera It has a rear camera of 8MP with sweep panorama, smile detection and more features. Sony provides great camera quality for its phone that we have seen in the past.front camera of 0.3MP comes in handy for video calls and the quality is not so bad ANDROID It comes with a OS of 4.1.2 which is upgraded with 4.2.2 here we are a little disappointed because the world is moving so fast everyone needs the latest technology kitkat OS could have made it better OVERALL REVIEW I am giving it 3.4 rating out of 5 for its camera quality and fast processor it is a good phone within its price range. It's not a bad buy if you love Sony.

  • Delightful Experience :)
Mangesh Khanna (Aug 19, 2014) on Gadgets 360
I have been using my Sony Xperia L from last 10 months. I bought this phone from Flipkart with goodies because of Diwali offer. Now, coming back to the phone. Sony has done quite a decent job in upgrading Sony Xperia J but still maintaining the look and feel of the device almost alike. Ever after I bought Xperia L, the device has never disappointed me. Design: The device has a sleek and slender look and feel. It easily slips into your pant pocket no matter how tight it is and you wont even feel that you are carrying a 4.3inch device. The weight, at 137grams also seems quite manageable. The thin chrome lining throughout the perimeter of the device coupled with an aluminum power switch gives the phone a touch of elegance. The back side of the phone hosts an 8 mega-pixel camera with chrome finished circumference along with flash. Display: The screen looks quite attractive and the image is crisp. The touch function is also highly responsive. The display as in Xperia J does not have a Corning Gorilla Glass, which I feel at this price should have been a must but anyways the screen surface is scratch resistant which will serve the purpose. I would advice to keep the screen guard on as it will avoid unwanted scratches and stains on your screen. Camera: The camera is equipped with the highly sensitive Exmor R sensor, which helps to capture sharp photos and videos even in low lighting conditions. It can shoot images at various resolutions and as expected the image quality with loads of features and Sony expertise, is quite remarkable. Battery: The device has a 1750 mAh battery. If charged in the morning, one can expect to have at least 50% charge remaining after 12 hrs of normal operations which includes 1hr on call and 1hr of surfing. Moreover, the stamina mode also helps in conserving battery charge by pausing Wi-Fi connection, data traffic and several power consuming applications when the screen is inactive. This is an in-built feature provided by Sony, which helps us in avoiding dependency on other third party software. Processor and Memory: It has a 1 GHz Qualcomm, Dual Core processor with 1 GB RAM, 8GB internal memory and extendable storage of upto 32 GB. As far as my experience goes the phone works without any lags and without getting stuck. Apart from the features that I have mentioned above, this phone is an absolute delight to work with. I am completely satisfied with the product and would give a rating of 5/5 for this wonderful gadget.

it make me feel like i m holding a premium smart phone in my hands . it got really coool design. i like to call it a play station as it have similar looks to it best feature: .camera 8 mp it a piece of a cake for camera guys really good colour capturing performance as it have exmor rs lens which it shares with its big brother z but when zoomed pics it had a lil noise but camera did fine job and also have a 0.3 mp front camera other good features: .despite a 1 ghz dual core processor xperia l is not ashamed of it's engine as it delivers quite good performance it was quite good when i switched between apps didn't lagged thanks to 1 gb ram .4.3 inch screen(480x854) which produces really good colors .it raned all games i played like fifa 14,asphalt 8,gt racing 2 and many more thanks to adreno 305 did good job at acceptable frame rate it now runs on 4.2.2 as u have to update battery life was lil under power..but downloaded battery saver it did quite surprising job after that helped a lot 8 gb storage in-buit and expandable verdict: if ur a camera guy u can go for it under 14k price tag if ur a specs freak that u should pass this choice
