Popular visual discovery platform Pinterest on Thursday announced the launch of an immersive single Pin format for easy browsing between newer posts on its following tab. Additionally, one tap on any Pin in the platform's following tab will link you directly to the related website helping garner engagement and traffic for influencers, publishers, and brands on Pinterest. The new format claims to give the user independence to browse through elements in a chronological order, based on algorithms, or a mix of both. These updates are launching on Pinterest's mobile apps globally starting today.
With these new updates, Pinterest states that you will be able to see Pins in the order they were saved in, helping you find the freshest content on the platform. Other than that, Pinterest also aims to become the one-stop holiday shopping guide helping you hop from one in-stock product to the next. The redesigned, minimal approach to content makes Pinterest resemble Instagram in a way that shows only one post on your screen at a given time. Users can now directly share or save the Pin through shortcuts provided below them.
“Every day we serve more than 10 billion recommendations, and as a visual discovery engine, we're focused on helping people find the best Pins for them across the app. For those who want to dive into all of the Pins from those they follow plus recommendations based on activity, the main feed will continue to have mixed content,” said Pinterest in its blog post.
To recall, Pinterest launched its new following tab earlier this year - a new way to browse content on your feed that offers posts based on personal recommendations. Users can tap the “+” button at the top of the following tab to add and discover newer accounts that post content similar to your interests.
