Facebook, in an attempt to offer its users' more protection against malware, is now offering free downloads of anti-malware software if it detects infected devices.

The social platform giant on Tuesday announced that it has incorporated free anti-malware software downloads from F-Secure and Trend Micro, directly into its existing abuse detection and prevention systems.

Facebook revealed that it will recommend one of the two security solutions based on the type of malware it detects on the users' system.

Facebook details that if it detects a device interacting with it behaving in a suspicious way; it would notify users' about the malware infection and will recommend users to download F-Secure's malware scanning and cleanup technology or HouseCall from Trend Micro.

The social giant notes that users will not have to worry about the maintenance of both the malware software on the system and these (F-Secure and Trend Micro) will auto delete themselves once they finish with the function.

Further, Facebook confirms that users will have the option to skip the malware removal process and decline to download the recommended scanner.

Chetan Gowda, Software Engineer on the Site Integrity team, Facebook said in a blog post, "Our goal is to make it easier for people to find and use the right technology to better protect their devices. We've worked with F-Secure and Trend Micro to incorporate free anti-malware software downloads directly into our existing abuse detection and prevention systems. These are the same systems that help us block malicious links and bad sites from among the trillions of clicks that take place every day on Facebook."

Facebook recently added "Ask" buttons in profiles enabling people to enquire about omitted information.
