Twitter is celebrating its 10th birthday, and in honour of that achievement, we thought we would take a look at what some famous people (and companies) sent as their first tweet. Here's a curated collection:

This was not only the first tweet by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, but also the first tweet on the platform as a whole.

Google's first presence on the micro-blogging was typically Google (read: geeky), and the tweet was written in binary language. You could decode it, but we will save you the work though. It said: "I'm feeling lucky."

Facebook's first tweet linked back to its site, an address that is now defunct.

Flipkart co-founder Sachin Bansal joined the service in March 2008, but didn't tweet until October 2009.

Snapdeal co-founder Kunal Bahl's first tweet only came two months after launching his company.

Ola Cabs founder Bhavish Aggarwal sent out a standard message, two years before he started his venture.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella just had two words to say when he first used the platform.

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos opened a Twitter account in July 2008 but it took him over seven years to actually communicate using the service.

It seems Telsa and SpaceX founder joined Twitter to put an end to parody accounts assuming to be him.

Former Indian cricket player Sachin Tendulkar sent out his first tweet during the third ICC World Twenty20 tournament in West Indies.

Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan wrote about how he got convinced to join Twitter.

Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan's first tweet was in fact a mention, as he displayed his passionate side in writing to his son Abhishek.

Bollywood actor Salman Khan sent out his first tweet in Hindi, which translates to: "[My brother] Arbaaz said that you have to tweet."

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent out his schedule for the next day as his first tweet, back when he was still serving as the top political person in the state of Gujarat.

When outgoing US President Barack Obama sent out his first tweet, he was a Senator for the state of Illinois. Now he's the most followed politician on Twitter, and fourth most followed account on the platform.

Speaking of most followed individuals, American singer Katy Perry holds that record with 84.8 million followers. Her first tweet was sent from the city of Berlin, Germany.

Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr - known for his work with Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes - reached a million followers in a record time: less than a full day.

And the last one:

The company itself posted from its official account only a year after launch in July 2007, and it took three more years before Twitter got around to creating an India-specific account. The tweet - in Hindi - translates to: "What's going on?"
