Not long after launching its debut product, an ambitious 2-in-1 tablet called the t.book, Smartron unveiled its next offering. The new Smartron t.phone is more conventional in terms of its target audience, but just as eagerly anticipated. It promises good specifications, but more importantly, a long-term vision involving multiple digital products and a suite of Web-connected services.

The Smartron t.phone looks unique and will stand out in a crowd. It's built well, with a lot of thought evident in the fine details. The specifications are strong, but not as strong as some of the competition at this price level. Battery life was good, but the camera was disappointing. We also faced a few hurdles thanks to an outdated camera app with poor controls and no easy way to find the update. Overall, Smatron seems to have made a strong beginning, and its services should improve the t.phone over time.
