Memory too less and speaker quality is also not impressive
Sahil Bhandari (May 8, 2014)
on Gadgets 360
1. Battery life is a major problem with this phone, battery drains very fast.
2. Size of this phone is big, due to which difficult to carry.
3. Speaker quality is not impressive as we demand from the mob phone in this price range.
4. Phone gets heated up while using 3G or while playing games.
5. Memory is very less if you are a game lover,it has 8GB inbuilt memory and in all samsung devices there is a problem that every software or game you install it will use only use phone memory, you cannot transfer any game or installed applications in memory card.
6. Phone get hanged very offenly and takes time in opening applications and even the gallery.

A really must buy product.
Sagar Sharma (May 9, 2014)

The Samsung Galaxy Grand was a phone which really lacked in many aspects and gave a consumer dissatisfaction. But if you talk about its successor the Grand II it really is amazing on colours, performance, camera, after sales service. It would not disappoint in any way. If people say about hanging problems I would say a complete NO to it. The phone actually does not hang, yea if you intentionally fill it with apps I would say that any phone would hang in that case. Battery still is a aspect where the phone lags behind, but would not be a reason not to buy. Go for The Grand II.

TheGrand 2 comes with a 5.25 inch displayand 1280 x 720 p resolution. The phone can be held in a single hand but I could not type on it with one hand. It has a plastic body but the back panel has a frame with faux chrome finish that makes it look better than its predecessor. The Grand 2 also packs a 1.2GHz qualcomm processor, coupled with 1.5GB of RAM. Samsung has not increased the internal storage. It continues to have 8GB onboard storage with only 5.19 GB accessible for use. Some have complained about the slowing down of the Grand, but I didn't face any such problems with the Grand 2. The Touch Wiz user interface looks similar to to those of the past. I still prefer to load a third party launcher that speeds up the phone. Some of the software in the flagship phones of the company are present in this one too. These include multi-view window, S-Voice assistant Group Play, etc. The phone supports most video and audio formats by default. It played full HD video .The primary camera onboard is an 8MP shooter that does an impressive job. It can also capture full HD videos for sharing on social networking. The battery lasted me a day without recharge.

Review od the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2
Subham Sarkar (May 8, 2014)
on Gadgets 360
The Grand 2 is an upgraded version of the galaxy grand. It is bigger in size as compared to the Grand but slimmer. The design is the same at least from the front. The rear side has got the Galaxy Note 3 look, made of faux leather with artificial threading effect.
The build quality is excellent. It weighs about 165 grams with dimensions 146.49X75.03X9.05mm.This is a dual SIM handset (Micro SIM slots) with dual standby mode. The power button is on the right, volume rockers on left, 3.5mm jack on the top and micro USB port at the bottom.
It has got a 5.25 inch TFT display and 1280720 pixels resolution.Touch is smooth and viewing angles are pretty good. There are accelerometer, proximity, light and magnetic sensors. The Galaxy Grand 2 sails on Android 4.3 with custom touch wiz user interface.
There is 1.5GB RAM, 8GB storage and up to 64GB external MicroSD card support.Of the 1.5GB RAM free available RAM is 882MB (on the first boot) and of the 8GB storage 2.83 is assigned for system memory and 4.8GB is the available free space for apps. You cannot apps on the external storage. OTG is not supported.
The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 (SM-G7102) has got Qualcomm MSM8226 quad core chipset clocked at 1.19GHz coupled with Adreno 305 GPU.The performance is quite impressive. The smartphone feels lag free and does not stutter a bit.It has got 5 points multitouch.
One cannot use the external storage space and there is limited space of about 4GB on the internal storage that can be used for installing additional apps /games.I did play the dead trigger 2 and it was quite smooth even when set to the highest details. But the main problem is the inaiblity to move to external storage which will limit your number of apps and games.
The 8MP rear AF camera produces good quality images. The image quality is very good.
The Grand 2 can play full HD videos and can also record full HD(1080) videos at 30fps. The front camera can record videos in 720p resolution. The FHD video quality is very good, however there is some issue focusing the camera (when using video mode) on closer subjects. You can shoot images while recording videos.
GPS (with GLONASS/A-GPS) lock is very fast under 4 seconds.3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth works well. There is built in FM radio.Sound (loud speaker / in call) is loud and clear of god quality.
The removable battery is 2600 mAh capacity.
You can expect the battery backup of about 6 to 7 hours when running at full capacity.Though using a third party app increases the battery life dramatically.
The upgraded Galaxy Grand is definitely better than the Grand handset, The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 is selling for under Rs.20K.It is a good buy considering the features but would have been better if it was priced a little lower.Key attraction is the Android 4.3 OS working out of the box, quad core and regional language support. It is definitely a good buy and is a worth competitor of the budget beast Moto G.

A decent Phone but Overpriced
Akshay Khatri (Aug 16, 2014)
on Gadgets 360
1)Basically the Qualcomm snapdragon 400 Processor is quite a disappointment in this price bracket of 20k..
2)In case of performance its a bit laggy ..Just due to the samsung touchwiz UI..
3)Various Features like smart stay, palm motion are worth the use..
4)The new Touchwiz interface is more stable and easy to use ..
5)Ram although 1.5BG but user available RAm stays less.. (Disappointed)
6) Battery backup could have been good still its fair..
7) Camera is pretty good although its 8megapixels.. Multimedia No doubt samsung is great at.
8)Built quality is very nice and its premium looking device.

Same old wine in a new bottle!
Sanchit Jain (May 31, 2014)

GALAXY GRAND 2 comes with a price tag of 20k. The phone comes with a 5.5 inch hd display with a resolution of 700x1200 which gives pixel density of 280 ppi. Display is better than all the galaxy grand smartphones. Phone runs on a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm snapdragon processor with 1.5 gb of RAM. Performance of phone is not upto the standards and disappointments me because it comes with a price tag of 20k, the phone lags sometimes. The design of phone is same as of all other galaxy smartphones series. The back panel of phone is of plastic with a leather finish like note 3. phone runs on android jelly bean 4.3. The phone has 8 megapixel back camera which gives excellent results in day light , the secondary camera is of phone is of 1.9 megapixel which also gives decent pictures. Overall there is nothing new in the Samsung galaxy grand 2.

Following are some serious issues i find in this phone:
1. TFT display. A ten year old TFT display which even Nokia 6600 had, No LCD , No LCD2 (inside moto g) or an AMOLED Display.
2. No Gorilla Glass at all, atleast gorilla glass 3(indside moto g) or 2 or even gorilla glass 1 was expected.
3. No IPS display
4, Poor viewing angles in TFT screen
5. No Stock Android, heavily armed Touch Wiz integration. Very testing on hardware.
6. Samsung Apps installed which can never be deleted for life. Permanent!!
7. Plastic leather at back. Not original leather, its cheap plastic.
8. Same old boring samsung design.
9 Priced at 23000, considering all the drawbacks shoud've been around 12000 rupees MAX.
Moto g at 12499 is a way better option. Same snapdragon 400 processor , gorilla glass 3. IPS LCD 2 HD screen, better ppi density, better battery life, dust and water proof nano coating. and stock pure google android experience. No faltu touch wiz or permanent samsung apps.

Grand 2 a better much needed upgrade
Harshal Ravalji (May 15, 2014)
on Gadgets 360
I brought these piece of technology few months ago at the time of the launch of the device. After using the phone for few months I must say that it is a worthy upgrade for old grand. Starting from the screen which is very much brighter will please your eyes and at night the brightness can be reduced to very much level which also helps you to use the phone very decently. The music and the loudspeaker quality is average but the call quality seems much nice. Coming to the photographers corner the camera both front 1.2 mp and back 8 mp is very much decent from the colour reproduction to the low light images overall it delivers nice experience. Now many persons found the battery life very bad which is true to some extend and the price it should be priced around 19k then it would be really a value for money product. Hopefully after appointing the designers from HTC , Samsung may produce a sexy device next time but till then they have to bare the criticism of not designing a good phone which goes the same with grand 2. And besides having 1.5 gb ram which u get only around 800 mb free the phone lags many times and the fault is of samsungs user interface over the base android. i mean if you are not able to provide light skins like htc sense (which never lags) then dont alter the basic android experience. the user interface of samsung is only responsible for most of their phones to lag, even for their flagships....!!!

phone is good but overpriced
Aman Tayal (May 14, 2014)

i'm using this phone for about 1 month and i realize that the lags lots of time. i give this mobile 3 star rating because it is overpriced, it lags and its body which is made up of cheap plastic. i'm fan of its leather look at back but it is just a plastic.its supports a 1.2 GHz quad processor, 1.5 GB ram so we can play heavy games like asphalt 8, dead trigger 2,etc. it has a 8 megapixel camera and i must say camera quality is very impressive. samsung also gives many additional features to this phone such as multi window, multi tasking, smart eye, etc. major factor for purchasing this phone is its big size screen but if you don't want a big size phone, you can also go for moto g with same specs.

Unexciting but reliable smartphone
Aayush Agarwal (May 10, 2014)

Grand 2 is a necessary upgrade to the Grand Duos.
1.2GHz quad core snapdragon processor/1.5GB RAM/8GB storage.
The specs all look good on paper. Camera is pretty decent as well.
However the design is a let down and so is the battery life.
Would say it is a safe buy but overpriced.

I have ordered this phone with lots of expectations from it after I looked at its specs and trust me it has out-performed it after using it for abt 2 months. It has got HD display with HD recording which gives the best experience of watching Videos and Images.Although battery backup is bit low I wonder if it would have the battery of 3100 mAh instead of 2600 mAh.
Seller has responded very quickly after payment confirmation and delivered the product in just 2 days. Thanks to Flipkart for its wonderful service always.
