Xiaomi's Redmi Note 10 lineup seemed quite straightforward when it launched in March this year. None of the Redmi Note 10 series smartphones announced featured 5G, which made a bit of sense since news about 5G networks going live was not conclusive. Six months later, things haven't changed much. We are still waiting for an operator to confirm when the first 5G network will be operational. However, we have started to see more budget 5G smartphones, like Realme's Narzo 30 5G, the Narzo 30 Pro 5G (Review) and Poco's M3 Pro 5G enter the market.
Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 10T 5G seems to offer good hardware, on paper, for a starter 5G smartphone. There’s a capable MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor that’s built on a 7nm process and has an integrated 5G modem. The smartphone runs MIUI 12, which is based on Android 11, and performs well in everyday use. It delivers two-day battery life with regular use. It also looks quite classy with a matte-finish polycarbonate back panel and Gorilla Glass 3 protection for its display. However, its main problem is that the cameras that underperform when compared to the competition. Low-light performance is also not good. The quality of selfies is average at best. Charging the large battery is quite slow at 18W. The competition offers much the same hardware at a lower price, and Xiaomi’s own 4G-only models boast of better features.
