The Redmi Buds 5A were unveiled in India alongside the Redmi Pad SE in April this year at Xiaomi's 'Smarter Living & More' launch event. The audio wearable comes with active noise cancellation (ANC) and Google Fast Pair support, as well as an IPX4 rating and a companion app. These true wireless earphones (TWS) are also the company's cheapest wireless audio offering in the country to date. After using it for about a couple of weeks, I tell you why this is a good choice if you're looking for ANC TWS on a tight budget.
The Redmi Buds 5A have a common in-ear design and come with three different ear tip sizes. The pebble-like charging case of the TWS earphones supports USB Type-C charging and is sleek and lightweight.
The earphones support up to 25dB active noise cancellation (ANC) which can be adjusted in three modes - noise cancellation or full ANC, transparent or partial ANC, where you can still hear some surrounding noises and off, where ANC is turned off.
Given the price range, the TWS earphones offer a punchy bass that is well worth its money. At higher volumes, or certain frequencies, the sound may even distort, but largely, it does the job and is good for casual use.
With ANC turned up, alongside the charging case, the Redmi Buds 5A are claimed to offer a total battery life of up to 30 hours. This can last you comfortably for a day, good for people using these in regular transit, especially if you are only listening to music and podcasts.
