Is Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC Coming to Steam?

Last week it was revealed that Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to PC. Thanks to an overeager employee's LinkedIn profile spotted by GTA V Easter egg hunting group TGFG we know Red Dead Redemption 2 will be on PC. This opens up a host of questions. Such as would it be as well optimised as GTA V or as poor as GTA IV, and would this news, as premature as it is, sway you from buying Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4 and Xbox One? However, the most pressing of these would be if much like Activision with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and seemingly Bethesda with Fallout 76, would Rockstar sidestep Steam altogether for its own client?

In addition to this, we also discuss if any of the game's many special edition variants would make it to the PC. We also speculate what shape and form Red Dead Redemption 2's micro-transactions and post-game business model would take. Considering every big AAA game developer has plans to incorporate a battle royale mode, will Red Dead Redemption 2 buck the trend or play it safe? And what does it mean for those of you who pick up Rockstar Games for the single-player story mode only?

Finally, we take an educated guess as to when you can expect Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC. Spoiler alert: if you were expecting it day and date in line with the PS4 and Xbox One versions, be prepared for a surprise of the non-pleasant variety.
