The Apple iPad Air 2 is an upgrade to the iPad Air and as usual Apple claims it is "thinner, faster and lighter"
It has the same 9.7-inch 1536x2048 resolution screen but Apple claims that the screen and the glass are laminated more closely now just like the iPhone 6
The Home button on the iPad Air 2, now, has a fingerprint scanner - introduced first in the iPhone 5s
Touch ID is easy to setup and convenient to use
The Apple iPad Air 2 has an all-aluminium body, and at the bottom are the lightning port and the speakers
The right edge of the iPad Air 2 has the volume rocker but Apple has gone ahead and removed the mute switch
Now, it has an 8-megapixel rear camera and 1.2-megapixel front camera, just like the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus
The Apple iPad Air 2 is much thinner than the iPad Air at just 6.1mm
Placed side-by-side on their rear, the Apple iPad Air 2 and the iPad Air don't look too different save for the fact that the predecessor has a mic bang in the center
Looked at from the bottom, the iPad 3 only has the now-dated 30-pin connector whereas both, the Apple iPad Air 2 and the iPad Air have the lightning port and speakers
Compared to the previous models, only the Apple iPad Air 2 has a fingerprint scanner on the Home button
All the three iPads have similarly-specced screens
The iPad 3 had a single plastic button for the volume function, but both, the Apple iPad Air 2 and the iPad Air, have separate metal buttons
The top edge has virtually remained the same with the 3.5mm jack and the power button flanking the extreme ends of all the three iPads
Taking a cue from the new iPhones, the 32GB version has been discontinued on the Apple iPad Air 2 as well
