Techies launch online petition for corruption free India

About 10,000 techies working in the electronics city on the outskirts of this tech hub on Thursday launched an online petition for a corruption free India. 

Taking a break from writing software codes and providing outsourcing services to global clients, the techies from various IT firms in the township, staged a protest demonstration against rampant corruption that engulfed the country and expressed solidarity with civil society activist Anna Hazare for a clean, corruption free society.  

The online petition has been launched at www.employeesagainstcorruption.com  

"Spiralling increase in the volume of corruption has breached the tolerance limits and its roots are well entrenched in both the public and private sectors. Though the economy is growing at a phenomenal rate and a vibrant democracy is making people the world over watch India, the country remains shackled in corruption, red tape and a lack of transparency," CitiConnect chairman Lakshminarayan said on the occasion. 

Noting that growth was not uniform across sectors, ipaidabribe.com coordinator T.R. Raghunandan said unless corruption was tackled for inclusive growth and lifting people out of poverty, progress would remain a dream for the country.  

"The Anna Hazare movement against corruption has gained momentum to shackle corruption from the highest seat of governance to the greed of the common man. While the government is being targetted en masse, some of the questions raised are related to what is the private sector doing about corruption? What are individuals doing about it? How can employees of India Inc., take on this challenge boldly and decisively," Raghunandan said. 

Former Supreme Court judge Justice N. Santosh Hegde and Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore (IIM-B) dean Trilochan Sastry and heads of IT firms addressed the gathering and exhorted the employees to strengthen the movement against graft.
