The Digital Software and Solutions Group will initially offer services to industries like retail, communications and banking and financial services.
These three sectors have a particularly urgent need to adopt emerging technologies to enhance digital commerce and customer intelligence capabilities, TCS said in a statement.
It also rapidly shifts product and service offerings to compete in highly competitive and customer-centric arenas, it added.
"Digital transformation is impacting almost every industry, and in several cases it is imperative to address needed operational changes within the next two years to remain relevant and prosper," TCS CEO and MD N Chandrasekaran said.
The new unit will offer fully integrated and scalable solutions that meet business needs and challenges, while reducing the total cost of ownership, he added.
The Group's initial offerings include 'digital commerce' and 'customer intelligence and insights'.
"Digital software and solutions allows customers to select solutions and engagement models that best fit their needs, whether it's a software module that addresses a particular business pain point or a fully integrated solution that transforms a business function," TCS Digital Software and Solutions GM and Group Head Seeta Hariharan said.
TCS is betting big on digital platform and expects new technologies like social, mobile, analytics and cloud (SMAC) technologies offering a "multi-billion dollar opportunity" in the next 3 to 5 years as demand momentum picks up.
