The 2015 Harris Poll Reputation Quotient (RQ) report measures the reputation of most visible companies in the US. It finds Samsung has surpassed Apple to be ranked third highest in a in terms of corporate reputation.
The report notes, "Samsung, steadily gaining ground over the past four years, rises to #3 and tops Apple for first time, while Apple falls from #3 to #9." The report also revealed that Google was just behind Apple when it comes to popularity among American consumers.
According to the latest Harris Poll RQ report, Samsung topped in four out of six reputation dimensions, namely emotional appeal, products, services, and financial performance. Apple scored better than Samsung in the vision and leadership reputation dimension. Notably, both Apple and Samsung were not included in the top five companies in the terms of workplace environment. Technology companies like Google and Microsoft were in the top five list of workplace environment reputation dimension.
In 2014, Harris Poll's RQ report had Samsung at seventh spot while Apple was at third spot. Last year, Microsoft and Sony were at the ninth and tenth spot respectively. This year however has seen downfall in both companies visibility among American consumers as Sony stands at 13 and Microsoft at 15. Another South Korean company that is in top 25 list of the Harris Poll 2015 RQ report is LG Electronics.
The report also revealed that Wegmans Food Markets, which is a New York-based grocer with 85 stores, surpassed Amazon to become the most popular brand in the US. Interestingly, Wegmans Food Markets was not even in top 10 list of 2014.
