Micromax launches MMX377G 3G USB modem for Rs. 1,699

Micromax has launched a new 3G USB modem, MMX377G, that claims to offer download speeds up to 14.4 mbps.

The USB modem is powered by MediaTek's MT6280 3G/HSPA+ and supports voice calling and SMS in addition to data on HSPA/ UMTS/ Edge networks on 900/ 1800/ 2100 MHz frequency bands. It supports upload speeds of up to 5.76 mbps. It offers plug and play functionality and automatic installation, so the device can be put to use without any prior installation. The card supports any operator's SIM card.

Speaking about the new product, Deepak Mehrotra, CEO Micromax said, "At Micromax we constantly strive to innovate and develop technologically advanced devices. With the internet penetration in the country expected to grow at a steady rate, we have tried to address the need of high speed internet usage with the launch this new dongle. Users can experience high speed internet surfing, social networking, video streaming, gaming and more all on the go with this new device."

The YouTube-branded USB modem comes with a dialler software that opens a YouTube tab which shows weekly top 10 YouTube music videos  The device also includes a T-Flash memory reader which is expandable up to 32GB.

Commenting on the new launch MediaTek's General Manager - Business Development, Dr. Finbarr Moynihan, said, "Micromax 377G dongle is the first device in India powered by MediaTek's MT6280 3G/HSPA+ thin-modem platform. The chipset supports HSPA+ data rates, receive diversity and comes as a highly-integrated, single-chip baseband and RF SoC (System on Chip) that offers small size, low power and leading data modem performance ideal for 3G data dongles, resulting in a high-quality browsing experience for consumers. We are delighted that India's leading mobile brand has chosen MediaTek to power its latest 3G data card."

The Micromax MMX377G is now available across all leading retail outlets in India for Rs. 1,699.
