Soon after reports broke out that Dark Knight star Christian Bale has pulled out of the Sony biopic based on late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, industry journals are now claiming that Sony has moved quickly to find his replacement.

Variety reports that Michael Fassbender "is in early talks" to play the role of "Jobs" in the upcoming Sony biopic. However, there is no official announcement by Sony has been made regarding Fassbender being considered to replace Bale.

Notably, Christian Bale is the second actor to decline the role of late Steve Jobs after Leonardo DiCaprio. Hollywood Reporter on Monday reported, "Bale, after much deliberation and conflicting feelings, came to the conclusion he was not right for the part and decided to withdraw."

The biopic will be based on the 2011 biography Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson and features Aaron Sorkin as the film's screenwriter. Notably, Sorkin had won an Academy Award for The Social Network, based on Facebook and its co-founder Mark Zuckerberg. The movie is being directed by Oscar-winner Danny Boyle.

Prior to this, Aaron Sorkin, in an interview with Bloomberg Television, had confirmed that Christian Bale would play Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in the upcoming biopic. He was quoted, "We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range and that's Chris Bale."

Michael Fassbender was last seen in movies such as 12 Years a Slave, in which he earned nomination for Best Supporting Actor in 2014 Academy Awards, and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Reports have also suggested that Seth Rogen was roped in to play Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. Meanwhile, Jessica Chastain was also said to be under consideration for a part in the same movie, though as of now which role she would play was not revealed.
