MapmyIndia, a maker of digital maps, GPS navigation devices, and tracking devices, on Wednesday said it is showcasing its new technologies for self-driving cars at the Auto Expo 2016 - Components Show, which will take place from Thursday to Sunday in New Delhi. The company in an emailed statement detailed the self-driving car technologies, as well as upcoming consumer-facing and enterprise-centric technologies such as its DriveMate device and its Connected Car platform.

The company detailed its RealView Technology and Advanced Maps for Self-Driving Cars. MapmyIndia RealView captures and syncs high-resolution panorama images and works in tandem with the GPS technology and accelerometer data to create a "ground truth reference dataset" for the self-driving car. MapmyIndia RealView can also be used to geo-tag, measure and analyse potholes, speed breakers, road signs, traffic signals, overhead bridges, lane markers, road shoulders, and more, when paired with MapmyIndia's Advanced Map dataset for India. It can help give cars a warning before they encounter any of the aforementioned obstacles. The technology can also be used specially by government transport agencies for improving road design, traffic planning and more.

MapmyIndia also elaborated on its DriveMate device, a plug-and-play GPS tool that can track vehicles and monitor driver behaviour. OEMs can also plug it in to the vehicle's CAN interface to share vehicle diagnostics information.

The company also detailed its Connected Car platform for car manufacturers and tier-1 system suppliers. The platform delivers Smartphone-Connected In-car Navigation, Telematics and Map APIs for the automobile's infotainment system and third-party Apps Location-Aware. MapmyIndia notes that Tata Motors is already making use of the technology and was recently launched in the company-owned Jaguar Land Rover as well.

The firm will also elaborated upon its Fleet Management Systems Computer Aided Dispatch Solution for Emergency Response Vehicles such as ambulance and fire trucks, along with GPS Fleet Management System for School Buses and Logistics Trucks.
