LG has reportedly landed a deal with Apple to make the American tech giant's much-anticipated iWatch wearable device.

Previous rumours indicated that LG would be manufacturing the display panels for iWatch. The latest Korean reports claim the tech firm won the rights to be the sole manufacturer for the smartwatch's hardware, and is set to produce the first initial 2 million units of iWatch.

Rumours indicate that similar display panel will be made for iWatch as it was seen in LG's first flexible screen smartphone, LG G Flex. If this is said to be true, Apple iWatch, unlike other smartwatches in the market, will sport a curved screen. The panels are said to measure 1.52-inches with no word on its resolution.

Various other sources indicate the smartwatch will arrive between July and September 2014, and will fit into the iPod segment, costing between $149 and $229 (Rs. 9,000 to Rs. 14,000) range. There is also no new word on the different variants of iWatch for men and women, as rumoured before.

Apple reportedly recently also came across some production-related glitches regarding the launch of its much-anticipated but not-yet-announced iWatch wearable computing device. According to the reports, the problems are related to the smartwatch's screen technology, battery and some other manufacturing snags.

Some websites claims that the Cupertino firm has also halted the supply of some "unknown pieces" of the iWatch with one manufacturer last year. Additionally, it has been noted that Apple tests different manufacturers from time to time and none of the above mentioned problems indicate that there has been any delay in the result. LG, with its proven curved/ flexible display and battery technology with the G Flex, is quite plausibly a viable option for Apple.
