Autodesk recently held the first Autodesk University event in India. The Autodesk University Extension (AUx) held in Mumbai last Thursday witnessed over 900 attendees comprising Autodesk customers, partners, students, creative evangelists, design and engineering professionals, as well as educators from various fields.

Professionals from the Architecture, Engineering, Construction (AEC), Manufacturing and Media & Entertainment industries used the event to showcase their projects designed using Autodesk's 3D Design technology. At the various sessions in AUx Mumbai, Autodesk also displayed Autodesk ReCap, 3D Printing and Motion Capture - next generation technologies from Autodesk's portfolio of software.

Film enthusiasts were treated to presentations on the making of Krrish 3 and Chennai Express by National Award winning VFX Supervisors Keitan Yadav and Haresh Hingorani, from the post production studio Red Chillies VFX, the company behind two of 2013's biggest Bollywood blockbusters.

The event also received enthusiastic response from the student community, thanks to free on-the-spot certifications from Autodesk. Over 120 students and professionals received free certifications for the latest versions of Autodesk software like AutoCAD 2014, Revit Architecture 2014, Inventor 2014, Civil 3D 2014, 3Ds Max 2014 and Maya 2014.

"We are delighted with the response received to the inaugural edition of Autodesk University Extension in India," said Pradeep Nair, Managing Director, India and SAARC, Autodesk. "It was our endeavour to build a creative forum for the design ecosystem in India and highlight the importance of design technology in addressing challenges unique to the country. We look forward to building on this initiative in the coming years and usher in a creative economy in India."
