Pros : -
Thinner than expected and feels good in hands
Camera does a good job, a lot of innovative lenses to choose from.
Silky smooth UI which never hangs
Highly responsive touch, works even with gloves on
Games never hang or lag
Offline maps with Nokia Here works smoothly (Still Google maps are better)
Nokia music lets you download all latest and old songs direct to the phone. Even regional language songs.
Full MS office suit.
Build quality is awesome with a mat finish on its back which gives a firm grip.
Cons:-
Comparatively less apps that android. But almost all required apps are present.
No High end gaming as of now due to the 512 ram limitation.

Nokia Lumia 520 Pros and cons
Rajib Das (Aug 23, 2014)
on Gadgets 360
I am using this phone for a year now. Nokia introduced Lumia just before its fall in the market and being a Windows phone it raised curiosity regarding its capacity as compared to other manufacturers. The mobile is really good for certain things and yet misses some basic things. Following are the Pros and Cons I think may help future buyers:
Pros:
1. Touch sensitivity- The screen responses very well to touch. Touch sensitivity is very good.
2. Camera- The 5 MP rear camera is very good. Nokia advertised Lumia camera as one which takes good image even at low light and it justifies too. Low light photos comes really very good. The mobile does not have a flash but still such a good camera will never disappoint you. The Nokia camera apps makes the use of camera even more enjoyable as I can change the focus to manual, auto or infinity settings which can give u a focused object with blur background. Many other settings are available too. The camera also allows to capture video at 720 p (HD) and I have used it many times as its take really good quality video as compared to other expensive phones.
3. The size (4") feels very handy for the palm.
4. Apps: Both Nokia and Windows provide many apps which will suffice the need of most users. Starting from railways site to banking, fitness monitoring, almost all apps are there.
5. Settings: Its easy to change most used settings like silent to General, Volume, play or pause music even when screen is locked. Even other settings like theme, background, ringtone are easy.
6. Navigation and Map: GPS of Lumia 520 really works very fast ( fast means really very quick as compared to other phones I have used). It takes as less as 20-30 sec to lock the position. You will appreciate it only when you will use it after using navigation in other phones. I uses Here Map ( Free Nokia Map) most of the time for finding location and it has never failed.
7. Sound (speaker, headphone): sound quality in both speaker and headphone mode is not vet loud but enough for music and conversation.
8. Built quality: The built quality is good as one can expect from Nokia. My phone has fallen many times from hand but still ok.
9. Games: many games are available from Xbox and Nokia. I have played Temple run and the response was smooth.
10. Price: Price is appropriate for the phone.
CONS:
1. Lack of basic features: The mobile lacks many basic features like no call recording facility, no video calling capability (as no front camera available), network information (like network location/place as it comes in other phones when its available), night mode, miss call/sms alert. Clubbing of SMSs as per sender and not per Date.
2. Screen resolution: Screen resolution is not very sharp, which you may notice while watching Youtube videos.
3. File Manager: No file manager app or inbuilt setting is available. only storage space can be monitored.
4. On the screen a search button is dedicated for Bing, which is hardly ever used.

everybody knows that the Nokia Lumia 520 is a great phone no doubt, but now at the reduced price online of about 7-8K omg!!! this phone is a killer. all new fresh nokia Lumia windows feel and that too now upgradable to windows 8.1 with all new Cortana voice assistance and many more upgrades.
pros-
1. excellent looks, the phone looks decent not too big not too small fits right in hand and has a classy finish with multiple options for back panels in vivid colors.
2. camera is wow. it lacks flash so the low light experience is not that good but the shooter clicks excellent photos and now with new windows app for camera it performs very good, with new features you will love.
3.good battery though specs are low but it doesn't drain like it does in androids.
4. top of all latest 8.1 upgrades. this is the best deal of all, seriously the Cortana is amazing and it assists quite impressively, 8.1 has new drop down notification screen, latest maps and camera app.
if you want a windows phone for a starter for less than 8K just go for this phone blind folded you will never regret. this phone gives you the best experience of windows platform at such a low price.

LUMIA 520- A value for money windows 8 Smartphone !
Ishan Ganjoo (May 30, 2014)
on Gadgets 360
The Nokia Lumia 520 was the fifth Windows Phone 8 handset from the Finnish firm and it slots into the very bottom end of the range, just below the Nokia Lumia 620.
->Design:
Like all recent Nokia handsets there's a lot of colour in the Nokia Lumia 520. It shares the look of other Lumia devices, with a single piece of smooth plastic covering the back and sides of the phone.
That shell is available in black or white, but the bright shades of yellow, blue and red on offer will appeal if you like it loud.
If nothing else, it makes Nokia handsets stand out from the crowd. Regardless of the colour, it's quite a nice looking phone in other ways, with an angular, rectangular design more in line with the higher end Nokia Lumia 920 than the curved edges of its closest relations ? the Nokia Lumia 620 and 625.
-->Key features
The Windows Phone 8 OS is still a distant third behind Android and iOS, so the consumer deck is already stacked against the Lumia 520, despite its success last year.
However, the sheer value to be had here counts very strongly in the Lumia 520's favour, as does the build quality and some of the apps on offer.
Having Microsoft Office and OneNote on board adds some serious value. Both of these apps are fairly feature rich, with Office in particular proving impressive as it lets you create, view and edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations.
-->Performance, internet and battery life
The Nokia Lumia 520 features a Qualcomm MSM8227 dual-core processor running a 1GHz and backed by 512MB of RAM.
Although looking a little dated on paper by now, it keeps the Windows Phone 8 OS running smoothly during day-to-day usage.
There's an Adreno 305 GPU on board that will handle 3D games with passable results.
The Nokia Lumia 520 comes with Wi-Fi and 3G as you'd expect and being a Windows Phone 8 handset your web browser choices are Internet Explorer and, er, Internet Explorer.
Still, it's optimised for HTML 5 and isn't the worst mobile browser we've ever used, so that's not the end of the world.
While the Lumia 620 would sometimes struggle to make it through a day, the Lumia 520 generally seemed fine ? though you'd still normally need to charge it overnight.
-Camera
The camera on the Nokia Lumia 520 is pretty basic, you get a 5MP sensor on the back, but it doesn't have any flash and there's no front facing camera at all ? so video chats and self portraits are out.
There are limited options on the Lumia 520; you can adjust the ISO, white balance, aspect ratio and exposure value, as well as choose between several scene modes such as close-up, night or sports.
--> Verdict
The Lumia 520 looks good, it's got a decent screen both in terms of size and resolution, it rarely stutters or slows down, it's great for calls and messaging, reasonable for media and okay for photos. Combine that with a lower price tag (Rs. 7200) and I reckon that this just might be the best entry level Windows Phone 8 handset that you can buy and certainly the best value

one of the best phone came across this 10 k price range ..prior to this i used huwaei ideos u8800 pro
which is an average phone for the price but this phone blew the competitors devices out of water
its build is on par with price range and the dual core processor make its speedy operation
screen is size optimum with 4 inch
camera with 5mp is good in daylight but since flash light isnt present its not good for night time or low light photography ,, but quality of picture is on par and nokia maps with here maps application is great and drawback would be the app ecosystem surely its developng but still it has long way to catch up
over all i would say its a pretty solid device for the price range
i would suggest this phone for the budget conscious people

Best Enty Level Window Phone
Nishant Sharma (May 31, 2014)
on Gadgets 360
Display of phone is IPS display with a smooth 4-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen with a WVGA resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, 235 ppi and 16 M colors. this combination provide better viewing angles and touch is sensitive enough to work with gloves on display of the phone.
Phone got 5 MP of primary camera with no secondary camera option, led flash is missing from phone. Camera of phone got 4x digital zoom and auto focus.Camera of the phone is feature rich. Phone can also record HD videos at 30 frames per second.
Lumia 520 fits into your palm perfectly phone packs the camera, voice and power lock keys in right side of device. It comes with an orientation sensor and a brightness sensor as well, apart from the ambient light sensor and the accelerometer are also present.
This lumia device runs on Windows 8 operating system and is powered by a 1 GHz dual core Qualcomm Krait processor with 512 MB RAM which allows you to multitask without any problem but sometime switching between the app is delayed and resuming message flash on the screen, internal memory of phone is 8 GB which is expandable up to 64 GB with microSD card. Battery of phone is quite decent.
For internet connectivity phone comes with options like GPRS, EDGE, 3G and Wi-Fi which can also be used as a hotspot for tethering, for using internet connectivity option preinstalled internet explorer 10 is present in the phone.and for another connectivity purposes microUSB connector and bluetooth is present in phone.Assisted GPS, GLONASS and Nokia Maps will not let you lost your way.For multimedia purpose phone has music and video player as well but there is no FM radio in phone.
Phone is value for money with brand like Nokia we are getting one of the best build quality and phone is also feature rich. Only drawback is lack of availability of apps in window marketplace but almost every important app is present in store for use of casual customer and it's still growing. Due to 512 MB of ram heavy gaming is not possible. Those who just want phone with not much chances of customization in their device then this is the phone for them and we can say if not to fight over o.s of phone then it's one of best value for money phone in the market right now.

This mobile from Nokia is super cool and good looking mobile. I am a proud owner of Nokia Lumia 520. It has 5 MP camera with geo tagging feature but the camera quality is average.. Operating system is Microsoft Windows Phone 8 which is upgradeable to WP8.1 Black. The Lumia 520 is quite pleasant to handle and it is durable. It easily fits into the pocket.Gmail works pefectly fine.It is scratch proof.Highly responsive touch. It has Office 365, email and linkedin integration. You cannot play High End Games due to ram limitations. But is is Not a good phone for selfie lovers.Battery is not good at all and your are need to charge the battery everyday. So Battery charging is a issue. But overall Window OS is better than android as it is more secure for online transactions. It is smartly Priced phone which will win your heart.

Bhaskar Das (May 22, 2014)
on Gadgets 360
I used this device for 6 months. This is an amazing phone. It will change the definition of Budget Phones.I mean, its hard to believe that a Windows Phone EIGHT! device is availble for under 10 k.
Talking about design, one can easily say that its the best looking phone out there not only in its price range. The sleek look, bright funky colors, rectangular design, can easily make it a good looking phone and comfortable for hold.
Talking about Performance, as said earlier, it has 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4, Dual Core with dedicated GPU. It will respond faster, will not lag (though heavy task is of-course restricted on it) and has enough internal memory (8GB!).
If you want a phone for your social needs, then don't look for any other phone. Windows Phones are best in this category as they have Facebook, Twitter, skype integration, and a lot of IM apps to keep you connected. People Hub, merges your contacts from FB, Twitter, Linkedin and show all of their latest updates on single tile (if you wish to).
It has Office 365, email and linkedin integration. So if you are a hard working guy, it will help you to do your job smartly, without even hurting your pocket.
High End Gamers, Ignore it. Enough said.
Casual Gamers, it has collection of games till Ashphalt 7 Heat. You can also play Rail Rush, Benji Bananas, Temple Run, Temple Run 2, Indian Teen Patti, World Cricket Championship and beside that, there are many more games like from gameloft (Amazing Spiderman, Real soccer, Dark Knight, etc) and from other famous developers.
Music addicts, go for it. It has nice music player. Nokia Music service provided by nokia completes multimedia needs. No need of any other apps. It allows free music download (free for 3 months, afterward, subscription can be extended by giving nominal charges), Mix radio plays random music of your choice. Sound is very nice.
Photography on this phone is average. Its 5MP camera is good. Performs well against similar rivals. But one thing you will surely like about the camera is its capability to record 720p HD videos at 30fps.
Battery life is not an issue if you know how to use a smartphone. People here complain about battery life even without having basic knowledge. You will get average @ days for normal usage and heavy gamers and net surfers will get almost an full day. No phone will give a long battery life than this phone in this price range.
Just one con of this phone was that its app ecosystem was less compared to android and ios.Btw its foolish to go on app number . Who uses more than 100 apps?.
So from my side I will give a big thumbs up for Nokia Lumia 520.
And I will recommend this phone for those who wants a very fast operating phone and decent battery life and above all a good looking Windows phone.

Affordable dual core windows phone
Shekar Raja (May 14, 2014)
on Gadgets 360
The Nokia Lumia 520 is an affordable smartphone powered by dual core processor running on Windows Phone 8 with a price tag of under Rs. 10,000. There are some features missing but overall it?s a good handset.
Design and Display
Being a Nokia product the built quality and finishing no doubt is very good,It is comfortable to hold The rear cover is matte finish and available in White, Red, Yellow, Black and Cyan color options. These colored back cover can be bought separately. The handset has got a nice professional look and looks better than the Nokia Lumia 620 the one with curvy edges. The IPS display screen is 4 inches with 800480 pixels resolution (WVGA) with 16M colors. There is nothing mentioned about the display screen so probably you might want to get a screen guard for the same. The viewing angle, color reproduction and touch sensitivity is very good. There are light, G-sensor and proximity sensors
Memory and OS
This handset comes with 512MB RAM and 8GB internal storage. Of the 512MB RAM, 395 MB is the total memory available and from the 8GB storage space about 4.66 GB is available. There is a micro SD card slot that can house external card of up to 64GB. The handset runs on the Windows Phone 8 OS.
Inside the hood
its dual core QUALCOMM snapdragon MSM8227 chipset clocked at 1GHz with Adreno 305 GPU. The performance is very good with no lags. The windows phone 8 itself uses fewer resources with minimal graphic and more of colors and text. This handset supports multitasking.
Camera and Entertainment
There is only one camera of 5 megapixel resolution placed on the rear side. There is no LED flash and no front camera. It is an auto focus camera and quality is good. The 5MP camera can record videos in 720p resolution at 30 fps. I tried playing a 1080p MP4 video and it worked pretty smooth. It?s a single SIM phone The in call speaker is loud and clear
Gaming
I tried the Temple run and Line Birds game that worked well. There are many games that can be downloaded from the Windows store.
Battery
The battery is of 1430 mAh capacity with talktime of up to 9 hours on 3G and 14 hours on 2G. On a full charge you can expect a usage time of over a day
verdict
The features are good, the price is tempting and it?s from a well known brand. However the OS is Windows based, there is no front camera and a missing LED flash. If you are a hardcore android user, it?s better to avoid it but if the OS doesn?t make any different and not much into gaming then this is a better option for the price

The Nokia Lumia 520 looks good. It has got a decent 4 inches screen with IPS diplay.
The 1 GHz qualcomm snapdragon processor makes sure the device rarely stutters or slows down.
Camera produces quality pictures at 5MP however the flash is missing and so is the front camera.
Otherwise, the product is great for calls and messaging and might just be the best entry level Windows Phone handset you can buy.
PROS:
1) Cheap
2) Large, expansive screen
3) Loads of innovation
CONS:
1)No front-facing camera
2)Average battery
3)No NFC or compass

Its display is very bad. It does not have a front camera or a flash. Still it has the best OS under its price range. It has very low RAM and the processor is ok. Its design is also not to good. But its a good phone overall anyone with a price range of under 8000 should take this phone.
