Motorola's new Edge series is looking to make a mark in the sub-Rs. 30,000 market in India. The company has launched two smartphones so far, the Motorola Edge 20 Fusion which starts at Rs. 21,499 and the Motorola Edge 20 which is priced at Rs. 29,999. I've already reviewed the Motorola Edge 20 Fusion, and found it to be a good choice for someone looking for a capable device running near-stock Android. The Edge 20 boasts of a more powerful processor, a higher refresh rate display, better cameras, and 5G support. So should the Motorola Edge 20 be your first choice under Rs. 30,000? I put it to the test to find out.
The Motorola Edge 20 is sleek but with a protruding camera bump at the back. Motorola has focused on design making it sling and light at 163g. It has a 6.7-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. The device is well built and has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 at the front and back and an aluminium frame in between. It is IP52 rated for dust and water resistance.
It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G SoC. paired 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It packs in a 4,000mAh battery and gets a 30W charger in the box. Motorola ships near-stock Android 12 with few of its customisations in the form of MyUX. The phone offers good performance and will appeal to those who prefer style and performance. It isn’t the best when it comes to battery life though because of the small battery.
The Edge 20 has a triple camera setup, with a 108-megapixel primary camera, a16-megapixel ultra-wide camera and.an 8-megapixel 3X telephoto camera. Photos from the Edge 20 were good in daylight and closeups were better. Low light camera performance was not upto the mark.
