Founded in October 2012 as ZTE's wholly-owned subsidiary, Nubia Technology is a Chinese smartphone manufacturer headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong. It became an independent company in 2015. In 2017, ZTE reduced its stake in Nubia to 49.9 percent. Nubia now has operations around the world including North America, South America, Europe, Russia, Southeast Asia, and India.
