Xiaomi's Facebook page has shared a short 15-second video that teases features of the new product. The short clip includes incomplete sentences such as "As _ as paper", "The _ the better," and "As _ as a bell." We expect that the missing words are thin, bigger, and curved in the sentences.
The Chinese company is widely expected to reveal the successor to the Xiaomi Mi 4 at the event - the Mi 5; however, an online listing on Monday of a new Xiaomi handset added new speculation ahead of the Thursday event.
Oppomart, an online reseller of smartphones, listed the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 with complete specifications and pricing details. The listing surfaced at a time when the company has been gearing up for its first major event of 2015 - tipping the Redmi Note 2 might be launched at the same event as the Mi 5.
According to the Oppomart listing, the Redmi Note 2 is priced at $249 (Rs. 15,600 approximately) and comes with upgraded innards when compared to its predecessor, the Xiaomi Redmi Note.
It features a 5.7-inch full-HD display and boasts of a 2.5D glass screen; 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (MSM8939) octa-core processor; 2GB of RAM; 16GB/32GB; 13-megapixel rear camera; 5-megapixel front camera; MIUI 6 based on Android 4.4 KitKat; supports dual-SIM (Micro-SIMs), and a 3600mAh battery.
A new set of leaked images also surfaced on Monday showing purported aluminium body of the Mi 5. The leaked images claimed that the handset would sport a thickness of 5.1mm. For specifications, the Mi 5 (or also referred to as Mi 4S) smartphone is said to feature a 5.7-inch Quad-HD (1440x2560 pixels) display; a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor; 3GB of RAM, and a 20.7-megapixel rear camera.
