Xiaomi has started rolling out MIUI 9 Global ROM for the Redmi Note 4 and Mi Max 2 smartphones in India. Users in India can expect to receive over-the-air notification on their devices in coming days.
The Chinese company confirmed the MIUI 9 Global ROM rollout for the devices in a forum post and said, "From now on, users of Redmi Note 4 Qualcomm/ and Mi Max 2 will be able to receive the update through OTA successively." Additionally, the company has also made MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM 7.11.2 available for compatible devices. Xiaomi has already promised MIUI 9 Global stable ROM will be rolled out to all supported devices by end of this month.
Notably, the rollout appears to be in batches, as many users on the company's MIUI forum revealed that they are yet to receive the stable build.
Refreshing the changelog for the MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM, the devices will be receiving deep-level system optimisations, new icons, new animations for launching and exiting apps, simpler home screen editing, introducing split screen, improved Silent mode triggered by the volume button, and improved readability for the start page of Messaging.
Xiaomi has also added some India-specific MIUI 9 features including a theme dedicated to the region as well as a new sticker set exclusively for India. Talking about the smart IRCTC SMS feature, the company will start showing the new message format specifically for IRCTC bookings in India. There are tons of improvements and addition to the all-new MIUI version including faster app load times, new design elements, lock screen shortcuts, split screen feature, and more.
The company has also started rolling out MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM 7.11.2 for the supported devices. The changelog confirms that the new Beta ROM brings new simplified UI with optimisations like "add to favourites" icon adjustments, distance sensor dynamic calibration function, App lock will now support hiding messages from selected apps , adjusted time for tapping the Lock screen notifications, and added widgets to an empty spot with a single tap.
