The official confirmation from Xiaomi comes within a week after the Redmi Note 2 reportedly was certified in China tipping new details on the innards.

The June-end launch of the Redmi Note 2 seems in line with a leaked roadmap last month that claimed Xiaomi might launch the Redmi Note successor in July. We can expect the Chinese company to kick off sales of the Redmi Note 2 in July. It also indicated that the Xiaomi Redmi Note Pro might launch alongside the Redmi Note 2 model.

Some of the rumoured specifications of the Redmi Note 2 gleaned from the certification site include a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display; Android 5.0 or 5.1 with MIUI on top; a 13-megapixel rear camera; a 5-megapixel front camera, and battery larger than 3000mAh. The smartphone is said to support TD-LTE network connectivity tipping that this time there might be just one Redmi Note variant.

To recall, Xiaomi launched two Redmi Note handsets: a 3G-only variant and another featuring 4G LTE support. Notably, the Redmi Note 2 is said to pack MediaTek's recently launched Helio X10 (MT6795) chipset.

An earlier report however claimed that the Redmi Note 2 will be powered by a Snapdragon 410 (MSM8919) processor.

The Chinese company recently claimed that it sold 10 million Mi 4 smartphones worldwide. Additionally, a Xiaomi spokesperson was cited to claim the company surpassed 6 million shipments of the Mi Band fitness tracker worldwide.
