Xiaomi has started the rollout of the first stable version of MIUI 10 in China, after almost three months since its launch in beta. The first smartphone to get the stable version is the Xiaomi Mi 6. To recall, the Mi 6 was launched back in 2017 with Android 7.1 Nougat and MIUI 8. Meanwhile, the MIUI 10 update is based on Android Oreo. The latest development comes only a few days after the Chinese mobile maker suspending the rollout of the MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM 8.8.9 due to major bugs.
As informed by Xiaomi Mi 6 management team member via an MIUI forum post, Xiaomi has kicked off the rollout of the MIUI 10 China Beta Stable ROM. The update, which carried version 10.0.1.0.OCACNFH, is based on Android Oreo and is being rolled out over-the-air (OTA) for Mi 6 users. It includes a bunch of new developments, but Xiaomi has not updated the full changelog yet. Note, that this is the China Beta Stable ROM, and it has a slightly different feature set than the Global Beta Stable ROM.
The post also notes that this is a Beta Stable ROM, and only being pushed out to select users randomly. It will be released to everyone without the beta moniker in the near future. The update will only be available to those using the China Stable ROM. China Beta ROM, Global Beta ROM, and Global Stable ROM users will not receive the update via OTA.
According to some screenshots shared by MyDrivers, the MIUI 10 China Stable update weighs 589MB. The changelog reportedly shows that the new MIUI 10 brings a natural sound system, powerful voice AI and IoT connectivity. Also, same as any major update, Mi 6 owners in China can also expect a host of bug fixes and enhancements with the MIUI 10 stable update.
To recall, last month the MIUI 10 China Developer ROM was made available for a second round of handset, including the Mi Note 3, Mi 5s Plus, Mi 5s, Mi 5X, Mi 5c, Mi 4C, Mi 4S, Mi Max, Mi Max Prime, Mi Max 2, Redmi Note 5A, Redmi Note 5A Prime, Redmi Note 4X Qualcomm Edition, Redmi 5 Plus, Redmi 5, Redmi 5A, and Redmi 4X. The company had initially added handsets such as the Mi 6, Mi 5, Mi MiX 2S, Mi Mix 3, Mi Mix, Mi Note 2, Redmi S2, and Redmi Note 5. All these smartphones are expected to get the MIUI China Beta Stable ROM via an OTA update soon.
If you have the Mi 6 in China, and are already running a China Stable ROM, you can check for the latest MIUI 10 China Beta Stable ROM by going to Settings > About phone > System updates > Check for updates. You can also go to 'Updater' and check for updates. If you are using MIUI 6/ MIUI 7/ MIUI 8 beta or stable ROM, you can upgrade to MIUI 10 via the fastboot method, via download links - though such a link will only be officially released once the China Beta Stable ROM progresses to the China Stable ROM.
