Xiaomi has launched a Special Edition Red variant of the Mi A1 smartphone in India. Priced at at Rs. 13,999, the smartphone will be available in limited quantities starting Wednesday, December 20 via Mi.com and Flipkart. The new Mi A1 Special Edition Red will also go on sale through all Mi Home stores, Mi Preferred Partner stores, and retail partner stores.
The Xiaomi Mi A1 Special Edition Red variant features a vibrant shad of red alongside discreet separation lines. Except for the new paint job, the variant has specifications identical to the original Mi A1 that was launched in India back in September. The Xiaomi Mi A1 runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat operating system with stock UI and features a 5.5-inch IPS display with full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) resolution. The handset is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, coupled with 4GB RAM.
Xiaomi has provided a dual camera setup on the back of the Mi A1 with two 12-megapixel image sensors - one with a wide-angle, f/2.2 lens and in 1.25-micron pixel sensor and the other one with an f/2.6 aperture telephoto lens. This new camera system offers 2X optical zoom. Additionally, the smartphone has a 5-megapixel camera sensor on the front with a real-time beautification mode.
The Xiaomi Mi A1 (Review) comes with 64GB onboard storage that is expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). It offers 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack as connectivity options. Besides, there is a 3080mAh battery.
Last month, Xiaomi expanded the Mi A1 colour range by adding a Rose Gold option. The latest addition, therefore, makes the Mi A1 available in a total of four colours - Black, Gold, Rose Gold, and the Special Edition Red.
Xiaomi is additionally hosting its No. 1 Fan Sale on December 20 and 21 through its Mi.com. The sale will include the Redmi 5A and Redmi Y1 at discounted prices.
