Xiaomi Meri aka Mi 5c has been leaked on several occasions, and is tipped to be the first smartphone from the Chinese smartphone maker to sport an in-house processor. Now, in fresh leaks, the smartphone has been snapped roaming in the wild before its official release, hinting at its imminent arrival.

The live images of the Xiaomi Mi 5c were spotted on Weibo and they pretty much speak the same story as previous leaks. It sports a sleek frame with round edges, and the fingerprint scanner is housed under the Home Button at the front. The volume and power buttons are both housed on the right edge, and the camera module with the flash is housed on the top right edge at the back.

The Xiaomi Mi 5c smartphone is expected to come in Rose Gold, Gold, and Black colour variants. It is tipped to feature a 5.5-inch (1080x1920 pixels) full-HD display with 403ppi pixel density. It may be powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz and paired with 3GB of RAM and ARM Mali-T860 GPU. The smartphone will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based on MIUI 8 out of the box and support NFC-based payments.

The Xiaomi Meri smartphone is rumoured to be priced at CNY 1,499 (roughly Rs. 14,800), and as mentioned above, it is expected to be powered by Xiaomi's in-house Pine Cone processor. The company has been reportedly working on its own processor for quite some time, and now the Chinese electronics company seems to be finally ready to launch it in the market. The in-house Pine Cone chipset is set to compete with other companies' in-house chips like the Huawei-made Kirin chipset, and even Samsung's Exynos chipset. It is largely expected to launch at an event in China on December 12.
