Xiaomi Mi 5 is now receiving MIUI 10. Xiaomi has started rolling out MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM for the Mi 5, carrying version 10.0.1.0.OAAMIFH. The Mi 5 was launched back in February 2016 with Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based MIUI 7. In March this year, the company updated the handset with MIUI 9.5 on top of Android 7.0 Nougat. The arrival of MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM for the Mi 5 comes along with a list of full-screen gestures. The update also brings artificial intelligence (AI) backed Portrait mode and a natural sound system.
The MIUI 10 Global Stable build for the Xiaomi Mi 5 is rolling out as an over-the-air (OTA) package with 549MB size. The official changelog posted on the company's Mi Community forum confirms that the new update includes all the latest features of MIUI 10, including full-screen gestures and an all-new UI that is tailored for full-screen devices. Also, there is a natural sound system that brings simplified system sounds and applied smart filters as well as ambient sounds in the form of forest, beach, drizzle, stove fire, and summer night.
Apart from the system-level changes, MIUI 10 brings AI-backed Portrait mode that blurs the background on portrait shots using software tweaks. The preloaded Clock and Notes app have also been upgraded. Xiaomi has additionally offered a new Recents view that stacks all the recent apps in the form of cards - inspired by the Notes app.
You can check the availability of MIUI 10 Global Stable update on your Mi 5 by going to Settings > About phone > System updates > Check for updates. Alternatively, you can flash the latest MIUI 10 update on your Mi 5 through a recovery ROM or fastboot ROM. Both are available for download via Xiaomi's servers.
